While at LSU the dude averaged 19.2 points 11.8 boards and 4.8 assists. The team under performing and missing the tournament had far less to do with him in particular and much more to do with a major lack of cohesion created by Johnny Jones as a coach, Hornsby's injury, and the fact that Quarterman was out there only playing for himself and a shot at a pro contract. Some think he was never a real tiger, which is easy to say about any one and done player who is only going to be on campus for a few months. By this logic we can already assume that a player like Naz Reid will never be a "real tiger" either, yet I imagine most fans are quite excited about his prospects as well as the other highly touted potential one and done players recruited by Coach Wade for the years to come.

Not a true tiger
Didn’t play the NIT
He should have stayed to get his degree
Doesn’t love LSU as much as I do
I’m old and he’s young

Throw a dart and this will just about cover all the complaints you will get.

Did this have to be a separate thread? Why didn't you just type this as a reply in the other one?

A bunch of roughneck plant workers feel personally slighted that he spoke the truth about his tenure at LSU being a waste of time. He put up historically good numbers but it's somehow his fault LSU didn't make the postseason when he was here.

What the frick does what a person do to provide for his family have to do with the rest of what you wrote?

Do you realize how petty and childish that makes you look?

I mean you may as well drop a completely prejudiced remark about the blacks playing on LSU's basketball team, because it's the same fricking thing.

I do work in a plant. I still don't see what that has to do with discussing LSU topics.

Nothing really. I was just making a broad generalization about the types that generally seem to bash him most. It doesn't appear to be inaccurate, honestly. My dad worked in a plant my whole childhood. Lighten up, Francis.

He did this not giving a shite! Thats the beef! IF he played they way he currently is in the NBA. LSU would have been in the Sweet 16 if not better. IMO

Because people don't understand the nuances of basketball and/or they like to trash greatness, the TRUTH is always dirtier/inconvenient than it appears at face value

He's right. Does that offend your delicate sensibilities?

Simmons has a major lack of effort and drive for any achievement at LSU. First player I have ever seen DQ's for a POY award in any sport because he did not go to class... any classes. He cost CJJ his job. You need to face the fact that he came to LSU because he knew someone here and he would not have the pressure to go to school. If he had gone to one of the major programs that had more talent he would not have gotten away with that. If you think that I am just dumping on LSU that is BS. Most of this came from Ben's own mouth.

Players like Shaq, Pistol Pete, Macklin, CJ and many others were truely great players at LSU and beyond. Simmons simply attended here.

I say that because CJJ did not know what to do with him and he could not afford to discipline him or he would have been instantly tarred and feathered instead of slow roasted. That hurt the team chemistry. That said I supported CJJ moving on and Will Wade hire. Team looks a lot better and has a lot of promise in coming yrs.
