It'll never be what it was. Home entertainment keeps alot of people at home too. 55 inch tv in hd is pretty sweet when almost all our games are televised

Place was rocking in the late 90's and early 2000's

As far as staying to the end as a student? Yes. As did most of the crowd.

But also, tailgating was nowhere near what it is now. Seem snow the emphasis is on the game day party and not the game as much. Back in the day, if I could only spare part of a day, I went to the game and skipped the party. I doubt people see it that way now.

Like the poster who described his brutal day ( , btw). Back in the day, I'm not sure dropping off the tailgate stuff would have been as big a deal. Start the day at the kid's games, get to TS at 530 or so, head home after.

The game was the thing then. The party is the thing now.

East side, lower bowl chairbacks seem to have the most empty seats to start the game and certainly in the second half.

Meh. The stadium stays packed when LSU needs the crowd behind them...

You guys are making a big deal about nothing, IMO. If people left in a game where it's 14-17 in 3rd quarter, then you have a problem.

Yes, except for the Florida game when they beat LSU 58-3. Ouch.

its the same as the people who get baseball season tickets and never go. people get pissed because they were trying to get tickets and would actually go.

I have never left a game before the clock read 0:00: pre-student, student or post student. I came very close last week in the sauna to leaving for the sake of my health but I would not break my streak. Call me stubborn.

Thank you. I'll gladly trade some of the issues going on in my life right now since they seem to be so bored.

For a blowout I thought the crowd held together well enough into the second half..

Student section clearing is dog shite. I stayed entire games during my tenure 02-07

The only game I ever left early was when Tebow beat us his last year at Florida. I was sick and running fever, and it started to drizzle so I went back to the tailgate and took some medicine and finished watching under the canopy.

I would propose that as the stadium keeps expanding and the cost to see a game rises, you have a diminishing % of knowledgeable football fans and a higher % of social fans.

Social fans simply watch the score board and when comments on the outfits of nearby attendees run dry, the experience bores them and they are off to the party.

As the large #'s of social fans exit, Tiger Stadium looks very empty, even with a fairly stable number of solid fans of the game left scattered about.

Greedy money hungry powers to be at LSU have done a helluva job calming the crowds and basically killing tailgating/atmosphere for LSU football games.

A few years back, I seem to recall Skip Bertman saying that LSU's goal is a more family-friendly game atmosphere.

Do you know how hard it is to get to a game on time, and stay the whole game 8 times a year?

pretty easy. I manage to do so for the last 12 years. Yes, I even stayed the entire Troy game too

I disgree about professional schools. When I was in Law School(94-97) letting off steam at the LSU games was one oF the few things that kept me sane and yes I stayed to the end.

If the members of your organization (Med School) are too busy to go to the game and stay, why worry about having the allotment?

It always works out that when we class has a test, the other doesn't so the tickets always get used. My point was more that we only got 50 tickets for about 800 students, so we definitely are not why the student section looks empty.
