Anderson feels more comfortable as the starter and Hurd has shown he can be effective in relief

Perhaps he just felt more comfortable against midweek opponents. Nothing about Anderson in SEC games suggest he should start.

Hurd has proven he can go long into games, it just seems he is a slow starter every season. He was very good into the 4th today, should have been lifted after that. I have know idea what Anderson would do on the road vs SEC hitters but it is much different than mid-week games.

I don’t disagree but they probably didn’t want to throw him in as a weekend starter in the SEC as a freshman. That’s a lot of pressure. And they had a lot of confidence in Hurd being a starter for some reason.

Hurd pitched fine today… Bingham makes that catch the game would’ve looked a lot different IMO.

Your only saying this because Ben says he is next in line to start if someone is injured. Personally I think Hurd was left in to long. Problem is not the starters it's relief. Does anyone know who the closer is or is it just CJJs gut?

Move Anderson back to being a Midweek Starter, let him continue to develop, and be that 4th starter for postseason. At this point anything after 4 innings you need to have someone in the pen and ready for the Hurd meltdown. Its not if it will happen its when. First sign of trouble after 4 you need to have a very short leash with Hurd.

All these comments are good, but the fact still remains that our pitching is magnified intensely because we cant score enough runs to let our pitchers pitch with confidence. It's like we need Skenes every night. Its not our pitching. Everything is magnified because we cant score 5/6 runs. 6 runs a game is too much to ask?

There is zero evidence to this. Anderson did not start against SEC Caliber teams. I love the kid but to make blanket statements like this are just ignorant.

Hurd was good for 4 innings yesterday than ran into a rough 5th inning but he did not get any help from the defense either. Then Anderson comes in and gives up a HR and the board says "Oh well he should start hes not comfortable coming in off the bench." Anderson will be a starter for us but Hurd was not the reason we lost yesterday. This sky is falling shite is very tiresome.

4 innings before hitting a wall sounds perfect for a mid-reliever.

Hurd did fine and was coasting all afternoon until one inning. He starts losing fastball command when he gets fatigued and they just left him in too long.

Please give me another pitcher (outside of the current 3 weekend starting pitchers) on our roster that has shown that they can start against SEC teams and go more than 4 innings? I’ll hang up and listen.

As long as LSU continues to only have 2-3 total hits on Sundays it won’t matter who the pitcher is.
