If McMillan would have started over Etling last year would we be having this discussion. Players increase their talents with more playing time. His ability to scramble out of situations and make plays with his feet is something we haven't seen for quite a while. I think people are over reacting to this situation. McMillan gave the best showing Saturday. It is what it is. I'll accept him for now till he fails.

McMillan was head and shoulders above Brennan and Narcisse in the spring game.

Do trot out the 180 lb soaking wet Brennan who won’t even finish the season?
Shouldn't be allowed on the field until he hits at least 200.

Or Narcisse who still admittedly is learning the playbook after not playing football for nearly 2 years?

Sorry to all of you Narcisse lovers, but he's not very good.

Yeah I think I’ll take my chances with the elder statesman.
Best choice.

If JM is the best we have then by all means start him.

It just raises a lot of questions. Why did MB, last year’s backup not make the leap we all hoped him to make?

Why does LSU miss on QB year after year?

Do you really think JM can lead a team to an SECw championship and more?

I admire the kid and he should coach someday
I also know he was taken out of the game in HS on passing downs...hes just not a qb

As it stands right now, he's CLEARLY the best. The fact that the coaches haven't named him the starter is probably based on the youth and potential of the other two...and the hope that things may look a little different in 4 months.

But, the uncomfortable truth is that Brennan doesn't look like a good QB right now. And, Narcisse looks even farther behind.

May the best player for the offense and the team win. In the end I think we need some wheels on the QB side to ensure defenses, many of whom will be like LSUs, have to defend another threat. If we are super confident in the OL then a pocket passer may work. We've got five months to find out.

Who was taken out of the game in HS on passing downs?

McMillan offers absolutely nothing to the team’s chance of success.

Play the most talented guy and at least give ourselves a chance to have a functioning offense.

J"the Whip"Mc is our most talented QB, and you negaTigers forget that he won 2 Texas 6A Championships. He can chunk it and is mobile, and appears to be the best that we have, and looked GREAT in the Spring Game. From what I have heard, he also has GREAT leadership skills which is what a good QB needs. Relax.

And this fact is an even bigger problem than people want to admit.

Not only does it look like they have not progressed. Does any honest person think this staff can coach them up?

McMillan is a much better decision maker than Jennings ever thought about being.

Yeah. All his real-game snaps prove that point.

Great insight. Looking forward to hearing those reasons.

I am interested in seeing a list of the reasons as well. Many mention them, but no one lists them.

It just keeps getting better....

Surely we’re not really gonna hire O.

Surely we’re not really gonna lose to Troy.

Surely we’re not really gonna hire Ensminger?

Surely our 3rd string qb is not gonna be this years starter?

You don't say. We can't identify and develop QB's. I would have never guessed

After we go 6-6 this year it's going to be "Surely O won't be back in '19"

I have touted JM for some time, so not surprised. If he gets the job, he will only get better as the season progresses. A QB grows when the clock is running; a lot mother than practice time.
The golden boy better step up, cause with the added mobility JM brings, he will have to pull away from the group in the fall to get the job. If he was the getting all the preseason hype, all would be more on board. Your question plays to the naysayers because of the lack of hype & perception that he is number 3.
Unfortunately for Narcisse, this kills my thoughts of him being a change of pace two or three series a game QB. If JM gets the job, he is a likely transfer at that point.
