This. If JM wasn’t better than Etling last year, and he’s the best we have, we’re beyond fricked.

i say let McMillian start if that accelerates the move from Orgeron to the next guy.

why is it that most other schools can have a freshman qb ready to roll

When you say “most other schools” are you really just referring to UGA and bama because they played freshmen in the title game?

It’s ok if you are, don’t be afraid to admit it.

The purpose of this thread is to list those reasons.

Look, it’s April. Anything can happen from now til September. But I’m just here to ask why not McMillan?

No, although Georgia is a good example. Playing younger QB’s is not something unique to those schools.

If you don’t mind, please list which of the 130 FBS schools started a true freshman QB Labor Day weekend this past year.

sure thing pal

Let me edit my statement so you don’t get bogged down in the semantics: “other successful schools do not seem to struggle as mightily as we do developing young quarterbacks and getting them on the field”

Is that easier for you to understand?

Because he looks about as capable as Anthony Jennings and everyone is really tired of horrendous quarterback play.

From what I have seen out of Mcmillan he is much better than Jennings or Harris for that matter. He is a quick decision maker. He is also a better running threat we have had since maybe perriloux.

What happened in Georgia with Fromm DOES NOT happen often, as a matter of fact in most cases guys are waiting in the wings, unless there is an injury or extremely piss poor performance!!!

Someone explain to me how practice reps under three different offenses and a below 50% completion percentage performance in the spring game makes McMillan any more experienced or prepared for gameplay than Brennan, who got actual game reps last year.

Are you familiar with practicing anything?

Great insight. Looking forward to hearing those reasons.

oh I understood you just fine.

for every 2017 georgia and 2014 ohio state, i can point out numerous other examples to you that , believe it or not, are not LSU.

UF is still looking for its replacement of tim tebow
FSU is still looking for its replacement for Jameis
UT is still looking for its replacement of colt mccoy
Auburn is still looking for its replacement of cam newton. remember September Heisman Jeremy Johnson??

I am not trying to excuse LSU, I think Miles was well warranted to be shown the door, but I think it underlines how hard it is to get the right guy at QB.

maybe not a great analogy, but look at how many QBs the Browns have shuffled through this century.

Just groom LN already. At least he's big and fast enough to create something when he misreads. Heather than just see an immobile qb throw a pic. At least size and mobility will entertain.

Isn't that a little ridiculous to say it has "no bearing" on this year? It's a point of reference for his level of performance.

Again McMillan appears to be plenty mobile.

He reminds me of Kelly Bryant

McMillan offers absolutely nothing to the team’s chance of success. No more than Etling or Harris or Jennings.

Or Matt Mauck... if you care to go back that far and watch his play.
