No new head coach wants to start their tenure with the filth of the fired coach still in the air.
No reason to ruin optics or hype moving into a new season by having Lane coach in a meaningless bowl game. Can you imagine the fricking headlines all offseason if he did that and LSU lost? The juice isn't worth the squeeze

Frick No! I don't want Lane Kiffin anywhere near Wilson, Davis, Hankton and Atkins. Off to a SWAC school for them all after the Mediocrity Bowl. None of them can coach their position athletes worth a frick!

It doesn’t seem like the players know the current playbook either. They might as well take the two weeks to start learning the new playbook. It can’t be any worse than what we saw the last 2 games.
