The pressure is on the University to bring in the smartest undergraduates, have them be taught by the best professors in the world, and then get them to go out into the workforce and generate more income collectively than any other school in the country.

LSU academics are more worried about being diverse.

Did you go to LSU? Most of the staff outside of the humanities are either right or do not care about politics. This is such a stupid answer. LSU is so freaking cheap it is one of the best deals you can get in higher education.

Yes. The lower level staff are fairly moderate. The upper level admins are not.

Also LSU is not cheap, again compared to what previous generations paid. The highest level of TAF doesn’t even cover the full tuition anymore, much less the whole cost of attendance

This is the reason why NIL will eventually be good for LSU academics.

A very bad take

The programs with the most NIL money have the wealthiest/most prosperous fan bases. These programs are able to buy the top rated/most expensive players...The pressure is also definitely on LSU to more effectively mold our student body to become higher net worth generating individuals

So we are evolving from "Next-year U" to "Next-decade U"?

Didn’t get past the title, there’s nothing good gonna come from this NIL and portal shite. You’re not teaching these kids anything about life.

Oil money, dipshit

Sigh.

We rank 51st among public universities and 129th among all schools. These are endowment rankings and do not necessarily reflect athletic program support. But they do give a metric of how wealthy schools are. Do you think all these above us became wealthy through oil money? No. They did just what the OP is suggesting.

- you made some excellent points earlier in this thread with which I agree. Not sure why you decided to dive into the gutter. I used UT and A&M as examples because many are familiar with them, they are LA's neighbor, and our direct competition on the field. But there are dozens of schools who became wealthy sans oil money.

Just listen to what you’re saying. When I went to LSU in 2009 it was free, so I can’t complain about that. But a college education is very valuable. Almost no university will have so much financial aid to in state students.
