It seemed like CMM was purposely spreading out the minutes across the bench last night. In other words he was not coaching toward winning per se but coaching toward giving the starters and the bench the same amount of playing time. For example Carter had 34 minutes versus KSU. Last night he only had 22 minutes and when he came in late LSU pulled away.

I think CMM is working out the five that is going to get ~25-30 minutes a game going into SEC play. Right now it looks like Carter, Baily, Sears and V. Miller are set to get the most playing time going into SEC play. And for the 4-5 spots the game time will be split pretty evenly between 5-6 guys.

Agreed, it's honestly not a very reliable way of measuring teams comparatively, but I'll do it anyway.....looking at the early schedules and results for Kansas St. vs. Pitt.....Pitt's resume and results are better. We'll see.

Lunardi currently has Pitt as the last 4 in with a bye. AKA an 11 seed that skips the play in.

Wisconsin as a projected 9. Recently beat #7 Arizona

UCF as first 4 out. They beat #13 A&M

We have an opportunity to pick up 2 quad 1 wins against NCAA tournament caliber teams this weekend

Even if we go 1-1, I'd call it a win. Will be a good test to see if we can bring the Kansas St intensity consistently

That wasn't by design. Cam had 2 fouls in the first 6:00 of the game. Luckily Miller picked up the scoring slack. Cam started the second half. About 7:00 in he hit a 3 on which he was fouled. Then, for some reason starting talking shite to the defender, nearly resulting in a technical foul. McMahon ran out on the court and jumped Carter's arse. He stayed in the game to shoot the FT (which he missed), but went out a few minutes later. I think because Miller had the hot hand McMahon decided to stay with him more. But it certainly wasn't McMahon's "plan" to play his best player only 22 minute in a game that was close until the last few minutes. That's just how it worked out because of early foul trouble.

Am I remembering correctly in that Miller did not play the last 6 minutes?

He did not. Carter replaced him. Obviously McMahon wanted experience in the backcourt in the final 6 minutes

Are they going to be exclusively only subbed for the other like Baker/Dean last year. Or to look at it another way, is playing them together not an option?

They played 6-7 minutes together last night. One of those times was the biggest play of the game when Sears saved the ball to Miller for the unbelievable layup.

I know McMahon really likes Bailey at the 3, so you probably won't see Carter/V. Miller on the floor all that often. But it doesn't look like he's totally opposed to playing them together either.

Not at all. Vyctorius is in the rotation and can sub out Dji or Cam. He has played with both before.

I think some bad assumptions have been made of CMM based on less than optimal situations over the last 2 years. Even in the front court you saw Reed paired with Chest down the stretch which is a combo I haven't seen much of.

Good, they should...in fact I would have the after the last timeout but hey, we won so all is good.

One of the things that was a constant battle for me to understand last year is why Dean and Baker were almost exclusively subbed only for one another last year. I thought there were several opportunities or occasions last year where I though subbing Reed or Fountain for one of them and playing those two together would have served us better.

That's why I mentioned it, but it appears that won't be the case and I would agree it should not.

I'm sure he wanted to go defense/experience in that spot, which is why Bailey, Sears, Carter were on the floor. Barring injury, Bailey is likely going to lead the team in minutes played because he does so many things well. Someone had to be the odd man out there, but clearly Miller has become the first 2/3 off the bench.

I do think we are probably a better team than the last few years. SEC basketball is really good these days in IMO. Still going to be tough sledding in conferance play without obvious NBA talent guys. Hopefully some of what we do have, elevates to that level as the season progresses.

Oh i definitely understand your reasoning. My brother n law made the same mistake spending tons of money on tickets to go watch Milroe go in dry once again on LSU.
