Why LSU shouldn’t feel bad about any of this

Since 2020 when all this portal/NIL/extra eligibility shenanigans started in CFB, LSU was one of the biggest programs to take a stepback. Ed O wasn’t prepared for the changing landscape. Neither was Scott along with his hires BK & MM. Our NIL was vastly behind our competitors. BK being a “good boy” backfired.
We saw LSU lose to Vanderbilt for first time in many of our lifetimes thanks to Vandy bending the rules & getting their QB Pavia back for a 6th year. We saw Indiana & Michigan jump into relevancy with 5th-6th year players. We saw A&M sign two #1 classes due to NIL. We saw Ole Miss sniff success.. etc
I don’t necessarily care about our reputation. The country does not like the idea of LSU using the current format of CFB to its advantage after 6 years of not. Embrace the VilLane era!

We are adding a backup tight end who was not going to make an NFL roster and a DT that got waived before the preseason even started. They of course will both be contributors for any college team, but it's not like we are adding guys who were or even will be draft picks. This media charade is exhausting.

2 reasons this is a big deal…
-Everyone knows LSU will be good this year. This will be used as excuse to why LSU is successful “They have pro players!!”
-Every single team will add to its roster or at least inquire about it. This puts all the blame on LSU “starting” the trend

The AVERAGE age of last year’s IU team was over 23, with more than a handful of 6 or 7 year starters, and they’re praised for it.

Bottom line is that LSU isn't breaking any rules, and taking action based upon the decisions being handed down.
Anyone having issues simply take it up with the NCAA.

You also just named two reasons why it’s not a big deal. Neither of the things you just named actually matter in the grand scheme of things.

WRONG….starting players averaged 23 years old and had spent 3.86 years in college.

I like Kiffin being on the side of 2022 players getting the same opportunity for 5 to play 4 as other players, and to be allowed to turn their years of hard work into good income that would otherwise not be available. When it comes to recruiting kids, I’d rather he be on that side than a vocal advocate for refusing the 2022 class from having the right to do it.

Before I do that, I’ll just ask you straight up. Indiana had 29 true freshman on their roster last year. All of those players should be 18-19 years old. Let’s play it safe and say that all of them were 19 (even though they weren’t). Do you think they had 29 27 year old players to theoretically get the average to 23?
