because we signed Mett and Steven Rivers that year
everyone wanted Mett
if we would have signed Dak over Mett this board would have rioted
But what if we had signed Dak instead of Rivers? Or was this back when we decided we only wanted pro style QBs.... after first deciding we wanted one dual threat and one pro style. Before eventually deciding we want all dual threat QBs....
Seriously though, from what I remember we came on kind of late but he wasn't into it by then.

Let's look at his stats against teams with any quality at all:
Okie State: 7-17 89 yds 0 TD 1 Int
Auburn: 15-28 213 0 TD 0 Int
LSU: 9-20 106 0 TD 1 Int
USCe: 28-43 235 0 TD 3 Int
A&M: 14-26 149 2 TD 1 Int
Bama No Stats
Arky: No Stats
Ole Miss: 11-20 115 0 TD 0 Int
Yeah.....he MIGHT be good. But, he needs to PROVE it in Tiger Stadium before I start lamenting the "one that got away"
Nice. Way to put this issue into perspective.

True...but no more so than our QBs

Prescott was just interviewed on SEC Now(replay)... said he never grew up a LSU fan so playing tiger stadium not a big deal. Not sure of the exact context but started talking about family(Miss. State) stronger than fans.
ETA: I'll be there Saturday Night to help illustrate why playing Tiger Stadium is a big deal.

I think we had offered him after he pledged to Moo St. He wanted to keep his word and honor his commitment.

Thank you.
The dumassery on this board amazes me.
We perhaps have one of the few fan bases that become so spoiled that we can't wait to get a recruit in purple and gold and we can't wait to cut them down the moment the don't have Heisman type games.

Why isn't Dak Prescott on LSU ' roster?
Crowton. It's part of the reason he isn't here now.

Baton Rouge radio mentioned Crowton was not high on him, he was brought in for an official visit , he never wavered on his commitment to State, there are people in the LSU athletic department not happy about the poor recruiting effort.

he would have been at LSU if LSU had wanted him and had he wanted to sit on the bench until his redshirt junior season
made a whole lot more sense for him to go to another school.
LSU got mettenberger, jerrard randall, and stephen rivers in 2011.

LSU came on late in the process w/ an offer(October-December if I recall) but he had been committed to Miss. St. for awhile and decided to honor his pledge.

It was a too little too late story. He would have been a Tiger, but once we offered and made a real push with CLM going to visit him in Haughton Dak thought about it, but didn't want to decommit bc of the relationship built with MSU staff.

I don't think he's that great of a QB, especially in regards to passing. When is the last time LSU had a QB that wasn't pass first? He probably would've switched positions had he came here.

To answer your question:
Dak was a prospect that had a lot of raw athletic ability. By no means was he the great player you see today.
There were other prospects in that class who were considered better than him at that point from evaluations. Now, Dak wasn't a scrub either. The coaches kept in contact but didn't offer until the week or two before signing day.
Honestly, I think Dak wanted to be at LSU, but he stuck to his word to MSU. Good for him.
LSU ended up with Mett that year, so there it is.
I was more than impressed with his decision to stick with MSU, but obviously wanted him at LSU. We all knew Rivers wouldn't ever be a factor here, but Dak didn't come on until late. Just one of those things where you can't get them all.
Good kid, good family. Wish him the best in his future.
old recruiting vid if interested

Typical LSU fans in this thread. In the six games listed he has thrown 2 TD's and 6 interceptions. If he played for LSU there would be a total meltdown about how he is the worst thing since JJ in the big games, MAYBE WORSE !!!
But, since he plays for MSU he is known as a great player and the dumb fans are wondering why LSU missed out on him.
This board gives me headaches from all the laughter it provides.

In AJ's career, he has thrown less interceptions than DP threw against South Carolina in one game. That's all you need to know.
