Why is Shep often called a bust, but not Randle?

First of all, im not saying either is a bust. Not after just 2 years.
But plenty of Rantards say "Shep is a bust, blah blah blah".
yet Randle is the next 'superstar' at LSU.
What makes them so different?
in 2 years at LSU
Shep 791 total yards from scrimmage. 5 TDs
Randle 717 yards 5 TDs

Rantards are Rantards. No way is Shep a bust. Willie Williams and Amp Hill were busts. Shep is an integral part of our offense. Not his fault he has been a decoy more than a focus.

Randle will be a high draft choice...Shep won't at this point

Dammit I just said this exact thing in the other thread!

Because half the people here are stupid.

Because rantards are retarded. Both have shown flashes of the caliber we expected from them but a terrible OC/QB situation has hurt them.
Also, I think Randle gets the praise because he made some hero plays last year when compared to RS. RR made a couple clutch catches when we needed them.
RS has elite quickness, if we could figure out how to use him...he'd be a star.

Shep catches criticism for no reason. He is the Reggie Bush of LSU football. He's a decoy much of the time but an important part of the offense.

based on what?

That's a crappy way to determine how valuable a player was while at LSU. Tommy Hodson was a 3rd round pick, does that mean he was less valuable to those LSU teams than he would've been if he was a 1st round pick?

Although I don't think his body of work has justified him being a high draft pick... His measurable are unreal.

Pretty much...
Although, I do think by the end of this year RR will be considered a high pick.

At least he catches something.

I think calling Shep a bust is ignorance. I think he doesn't get enough opportunities to make a decision either way, whether he's great or a bust.

Easy answer, expectations..... Shep was supposed to come in and dominate right away to many people, be the Percy Harvin of LSU. Randle was behind other receivers and not expected to be an impact (#1 Target) till his junior season. Not saying it is right but that is best reason I can come up with.

1) i hate to call any sophomore a bust if he is contributing in any way. This is plain stupid. If they get kicked off the team without seeing the field sure, but calling a kid a bust when they have half their career to play is idiotic.
2)Dont' compair stats unless your going to compare all of them
Sure they have comparable yardage and TD, but the number of touches is astromoicaly different
Shep has had 38 receptions, and 77 carries to amass the same amount of yards RR on only 44 rec. So 700+ yards and 5 tds on 44 touches is a lot more impressive than 700+ yards and 5 tds on 115 touches.
3) Rueben Randle became a starter his freshmen year, and it is widely believed that he suffers from lack of quarterback play.
Shep ha moved positions and is taking some time to adjust, which leads some to think that means he is a failure as the QB we have been waiting for we thought eh was gonna be, and thus a failure overall.
