Even if O turns out to be the second coming, Alleva should be removed from his position anyway because the process by which the decision was made was so so bad. From rushing it out there to win the press conference race with Texas to giving away your leverage in contract negotiations the whole thing was a clusterfrick from day 1.

Surely the powers that be see this, right? RIGHT? BOS members if you're reading this do your job and get some real leadership for our Athletic Department!!

He's able to raise a crap load of money and produce a significant amount of revenue

While he sucks at literally everything else, the above is really important to decision makers

What's with the Alleva hate these days? Seems to be doing a pretty good job other than the money hungry policies.

It would take a scandal to bring him down.

Alleva’s done pretty good since he took control this yr. he’s only lost 1 game, to Bama. When he let O run it his way, O lost 2 of his first 4 games.

STFU man. We have beating the Alleva thing to death, and your comments are boring and tired. I think O wil turn out to be a good hire, Wade a sensational hire and hard to hold on to, and he is smart enough to keep Manierini around contrary to so many jerks on this board who want him fired every year after a few losses. He also is making the university money which is also the part of an AD's job. Go away.

So if O wins multiple Natty's (not saying he will but your hypothesis puts him at the "second coming) Alleva should be fired for hiring the right guy the wrong way? The fricktard sense does that make?

Also Will Wade is looking solid - so if MBB and football both become highly successful still Joe Alleva needs to be fired?

He gets way more credit for this than he deserves. He is at LSU a powerful brand in college athletics. He didn’t do it from scratch.

He is an embarrassment.

The real question is why was he hired in the first place? That was the true incompetence by LSU.

To answer why he's still here - the BOS generally loves him. And the reason is that financially LSU athletics is in a great spot and gives money back to the University.

This was the case already before he took office. People make it sound like he took a program in red numbers and turned it aound. False.

He is a national punchline.

it makes perfect sense.

you're focusing on the result, not the process. the process used to hire O was deeply deeply flawed and will fail far more often than it will succeed. He can't be allowed to botch future hires with his backward process.

by your rationale we should run dash right 93 berlin every play because hey we ran it and scored a game winning td!!

Right. The same people that are so quick to point out how much money he raises are likely the same guys that will scream to high heaven that Miles only succeeded because of what Saban built.

Alleva didn’t walk into a finely tuned athletic department that was drowning in donations?

He hired O to not do anything to get in the way because that is all he knows.

He fell backwards into Duke athletics because he was racquetball buddies with Coach K and rode that wave until his first real moment of truth. He completely fricked his school and players in the arse on that one, and before Duke could fire him LSU swooped in and gave him a raise to walk off the firing line and into a cash cow in Baton Rouge.

Good work if you can get it

Aside from the fact that he is morally bankrupt, he is awesomeness!

I don't disagree with you - I'm just saying that he has a job because the BOS generally loves him. They are they ones who would fire him. And they love him for that reason. He may have nothing to do with that reason, but its the reason they love him.

...so it's ok to settle for 1/2 of a god job?....how about someone who can make $$ and run a sound department, without regurgitating all the stuff he has whiffed on
