Hes basically the king of New Orleans recruiting. You need someone that can go in to a recruits home and sway they to pick the Tigers. Now its more important to the lower star kids. The high star 4 and 5s for the most part are looking for the money where as the 3 star guys will probably stay at school all 4 years and want to have the college experience. Frank woos the kids that aren't chasing money and aren't super stars in high school.

You sure about that?
Yes, these are unrestricted free agents. Recruiting is now a contract negotiations.

Every staff needs a Frank Wilson. Frank and Sherman are those guys. Sherman is very close to a lot of the players and looks out for them. Players need a guy they can go bitch. Frank probably knows most of the players families and their dynamics.

Your right there isn’t a LSU COACH that was liked by everybody.
Eddie Eaugh was liked by all of us. He spoke like us, walked like us and thought like us. Ths ultimate LSU "one of us" coach.

Don't speak for all.
I didn't like him.
Every job he had he called it his dream job. He even said that as a line in The Blind Side.
He won the Natty in spite of his coaching not because of it. His assistants are the reason, not Eaux.

Whoever is the next man up to be head coach needs to keep Coach Frank and Cory Raymond. They know our you men and our young men here from Louisiana respect both of them. The recruiting of kids and their family still matters even with the money.

So there's someone shopping them to universities? LSU et al are still vying for commitments, no one has an unlimited amount of funds.

It was always said that Frank does not lose a New Orleans kid he wants. Then Jahkeem Stewart went to USC. I’m not saying he’s not a good recruiter, but with NIL he’s not the surefire closer he once was.
Losing a kid because of an outrageous $2M offer for a DT doesnt mean Frank is worthless anymore. While NIL certainly matters in recruiting now, recruiting relationships still without any doubt if you know the game matter still.
If Frank were to get let go you can kiss half the class goodbye the next day basically. NIL or not. Frank puts in a ton of work on the NOLA area and LA kids in general and they look up to him as a stabilizing factor in all this coaching changover.
Corey being let go would result the same in the DB side of things just about. There are kids pretty much only locked in here because of a certain few coaches, whether you want to believe that or not, they can get similar (or more) NIL elsewhere. Yes there are some recruits out there who will just take the highest offer regardless, like a Jahkeem Stewart, although I would also argue his relationship with their DL coach from here was also very strong, they also outbid everyone by nearly double for him.

He coached seven running backs at LSU who went on to be selected in the NFL Draft, a group that included consensus All-America Leonard Fournette. Four LSU running backs Wilson recruited or coached earned All-SEC honors, a list that includes Fournette, Steven Ridley, Spencer Ware, and Jeremy Hill.
In nine years as LSU’s running backs coach, Wilson’s backfield has produced four 1,000-yard rushers, had 51 100-yard individual rushing performances, and broke the 200-yard rushing mark as a team 54 times under his guidance.
During his first run with the Tigers, Wilson was recognized as the nation’s top assistant coach at his position in 2011. Wilson also was named the 2011 Recruiter of the Year by Rivals.com, the 2014 NFL.com Top Recruiter in College Football and the 2015 Scout.com SEC Recruiter of the Year. As the lead recruiter for the Tigers, Wilson landed some of the most decorated players in school history in Fournette, defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, wide receivers Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. and offensive lineman La’el Collins.
Overall, Wilson has coached or recruited 47 individuals who have gone on to play in the NFL.

Great guy and great recruiter. Average-at-best RB coach and was a really bad head coach.

WTF are you smoking. Recruiting is more important than ever. A team has to recruit high school players, keep recruiting their current players to keep them from jumping into the portal, and recruit players out of the portal.

It’s all about the money now. The old ways of recruiting are less important. I thought this was obvious by now.

He’s an overly glorified recruiter. People will blame the OL for his units awful development, and ignore that nearly everyone running back he touches regresses as they get his coaches. A few unicorns manage to overcome his coaching but it’s honestly amazing how anyone in their right mind can call him a good running backs coach. He’s straight awful and living off the successes of Jeremy Hill and Fournette.
Hell they even give home credit for CEH when he didn’t once coach him
