re: Why is everyone so down on pitching?

No one in the bullpen had any SEC experience.
Shores and Anderson had limited reps to begin with.
Eyanson coming from a smaller conference has some adjusting to do.

This is a strawman. It's not unreasonable to expect guys to at least throw strikes. That's what the unrest is about.

I am very happy with two sweeps and a win against Texas on the road and Dallas Baptist at a neutral site.
7-2 to start the SEC is very good !
Barring any injuries, I don’t see why our pitching staff won’t improve over the next three months.
Future is bright for this year’s squad.

Unfortunately ours might not find his upside until he’s in the minors.

Currently? Tennessee, arkansas, texas am, unc, nc st, florida st, kansas st, and oregon st all have better 3rd starters
A&M is arse
Unc, nc st, Florida st, Kansas st, Oregon state… All these teams rank anywhere from 33 to 49 in runs scored.
Only Tennessee has scored more runs than us by a handful.
So objectively there really isn’t a better staff that also has very good run production. That’s a recipe for success.
We are 4th in country in runs scored FYI

So is it the relief pitching blowing the games or their hitting is abysmal? Because A&M is losing every game practically. Just trying to figure out how their #3 guy is any better than ours.

Our ERA currently is better than several of our own championship teams.

I’m not down, I just love watching reliever after reliever fall behind 2-0 and plucking batters. That’s so great

At risk of being called a debbie downer, what is our ERA since we entered conference play? That's the issue. At this pace, it will end up much higher. And I know the obligatory responses of "but we're 7-2 in the league" will come my way, but let's keep in mind that we've played two teams that are a combined 1-17 in the league. We saw what happened in between, not that it was a disaster, but it's going to be hard if some other pitchers don't start turning a corner.
Now, with that said, you would think that someone else on this staff outside of Anderson, Eyanson, Cowan and Evans will eventually come around. That is the hope. And we can hold onto that hope without sitting here and pretending that we don't have a serious problem, at the moment, with pitchers even making competitive pitches much of the time.
Noot at least threw strikes in the 9th. He didn't look real good in the 8th, and got away with a couple of hangers, but he attacked in the 9th with that big lead, and that's what we need to see from more guys, regardless of the score.

Eleven walks is pretty consistent I think!

Because the backend of the bullpen is very talented,….but can’t throw strikes. Especially in high stress situations.
Last night was a perfect example. No lead, and I mean NO lead is safe, at any point, on day three right now.
I guess if you enjoy the feeling that the other team won’t win it, but LSU will lose it,….for hours, then all’s well.
Personally, I was way less stressed out watching Friday night. Well played on both sides is easier to accept if it’s a loss.

It’s because we had the best possible scenario play out in games 1 & 2 and then this was the result for game 3. If something goes wrong in games 1 & 2, then we might be in trouble for that series, as we saw last weekend against Texas. Now that’s not to say that other teams don’t have the same problems, because they do. I’m just strictly answering your question.

That’s what bothers me. It’s really an opportunity for some of these guys to step up and prove they can pound the zone. As Palmer kept bringing up we got behind 2-0 to almost everybody. It just doesn’t make sense.
