That picture isn't from 59. He just signed it "Heisman 59."

Interesting. Thought that was from Cannons sophomore year. Fairly certain we wore the white jerseys every game after 1958 under Charlie Mac. He thought the white was lucky
You're correct, that picture is from 57 at Florida. Dietzel changed to white only in 58.

Why is everyone just sitting there in that photo. Looks like a dive into the endzone?

Not at all

I am wondering why the Heisman portrait of Billy Cannon is of him wearing a gold jersey, considering he only wore a gold jersey once in 1957

Can you please explain since you arent new to lsu football either? I am sure you will stay to give an answer and not run with your tail tucked.....

Boomers were, at the most, 12 to 14 years old in 1959. Couldn't have been one of them. They may have screwed up the country, but they didn't screw up this photo.

If you go to Google and type in “Billy Cannon” and click images, there is a picture of hos Heisman trophy on display with both a white and an old gold jersey hanging behind it. There is no mistake it’s a gold jersey. I would have pasted it here but I’m not savvy enough to accomplish that task. Sorry ! It’s there if you scroll down on Google images.

We had this convo yesterday.

The Yellow/White combo started in 1957.

The traditional Gold Jersey ended in 1956.

At the turn of the century, LSU’s colors were blue and white.

None of this answers my question

Billy Cannon wore a gold jersey for exactly one game in his entire LSU playing career (in 1957). He wore white for the rest

Seems odd they would put him in a gold jersey
