Why don’t we hear more about Jacoby Stevens outside of Message boards?

Coaching staff holding him back? Is it a conspiracy?

Not as good as the guys in front of him?

Not good enough at S? Not good enough at WR?

Just a tweener they can’t find a spot for In the lineup?

I think as far as being a former 5*, you’d think as a sophomore he’d be making a bit more noise. I don’t expect many kids to be immediate impact players because they have to go through a learning curve. But at some point, you have to be mentioned.

Hopefully, we will see a bit more out of him this season. At least in a reserve role. Not all 5* players work out.

I think it obvious he's not as good as expected.

Some guys just can’t make the jump once they get to college. Sometimes they were a man amongst boys in hs and don’t have any toughness. Other times it’s an attitude problem.

There was a thread about this a few days ago where people were saying we're expecting too much of him too early on and to give him a chance.

I think the assumption of him not being as good as we thought he'd be is warranted considering the coaches already thought they'd try him out at WR because they didn't think he'd make it at S.

There is a lot of talent at the safety position, it's a position that's always been deep at LSU with star players going into the NFL, Adams being the latest. But Jacoby was a 5 star player that is capable of doing much more than just playing safety, that's why they was using him at WR last season, but they def don't need him there anymore, he'll come around eventually at safety.

Good athlete who plays a position LSU happens to be loaded at. They tried him on offense to get him in the game somehow and it didn’t work out. Hopefully they find a way to rotate him in at safety in a few games

I know I'll get slammed for this but from watching his highlights in high school I just couldn't understand how he was the number one safety in the country. He just doesn't look like he gives that much effort when he plays. Hopefully the coaches can get more out of him.

One position group that’s tough to see the field early at is the LSU secondary. He will get there. He will see field on ST’s and possibly certain nick/dime packages. I wander if he ends up at Olber before he’s done at LSU.

I don’t know about that but just that Delpit And Harris are super talented plus we have Battle and Paris who are seasoned vets. This year will tell us a lot. I actually wander if he would be better off at HB or like a hybrid Wr/te. He looked so good in the AA game at WR.

IH Bama u hit the nail on the head. I saw Jacoby in high school and his motor didn't run full speed. That worried me alot, but he has the tools. Just have to match it with effort.

I knew I couldn't be the only one who noticed that. Most people just dont want to admit that a 5 star guy we got might not be giving it 100% when he plays and that could be a problem. I have no doubt that he has the tools like you said.

Go on YouTube or hudl and tell me hes giving 100% when he plays. He looks like hes bored out there. Idk if you remember TK Fleming but hes a friend of mine and was an UNREAL athlete. Was being recruited to play safety but he just didnt have the passion to play football and he didnt give it 100%.

On a side note, Les Miles called him when he was at my house once. That was really cool.

That's kinda what I was thinking as well. Have a spoon in that's kid mouth at all times like they did with Thompson. He'd be an amazing coverage linebacker and would be deadly coming off the edge. Make it happen. After Divinity is gone there could be a nice duo of Stevens and Marcel Brooks at the F linebacker position.

In high school he reminded me of the kid from ms a few years ago that was highly recruited that never played and stayed the whole time. Seems like a good player at several positions but not great enough to see the field anywhere. Not fast enough to play in the secondary/wr but not big enough to play in the box

He’s probably the most athletic guy on the team, but that doesn’t make him the best football player.

He’s an exceptional athlete. Dominated at WR all star camps.

We’re stacked at S and WR though. I really want to see him as a roaming ball hawk FS.
