Why doesn't PM use Hunter Devall more?

On a team devoid of quantity and quality LHP in the bullpen, Devall has a 3.38 ERA in 8.0 IP. His 9 appearances is less than half of Bain, Stallings, Bugg and Gilbert, all of whom have a higher ERA. Lastly, Devall is a Senior with postseason experience. Am I missing something here?

Latz is active for the series, so have a hard-throwing lefty reliever in the mix.

Hunter needs to thank PM for keeping him on the team for four years.

I've been saying that for two years. He has the talent just isn't given many opportunities. He threw great in the sec tournament last year. My dad even asked me last night when the last time we threw Devall was. I said hell I can't even remember but it's been too long

I think this is a direct quote from PM after Devall's appearance last year vs Ole Miss

Well I'm pretty sure he got the win against Olemiss the year before that in Oxford. Their CWS year might I add.

The other pitchers are better than him.

I'm with the OP and have wondered the same thing. Is he hurt?

There are only 2 or 3 pitchers on the entire staff that seem to have cemented their roles (Lange and Newman). Everyone else is kind of in flux.

Seems like there would be at least mid-week opportunities for him to throw some.

I've wondered the same thing. He's had minor problems with his arm his whole career here, maybe CPM is saving it for post season.

I just think it's because he's not one of PM's "boys"

Murtown, i can tell you're one of those people who blame "the man" for all of your failures. CPM surely has favorites - anyone would - but he plays the guys he thinks will help him win. If he's not throwing Devall it's because he doesn't think Devall can do the job.
