well said. Now a fudge packer with a gun is a different matter all together . It would be like the atmosphere at a Raiders game.

Hotels would be an issue. NOLA is pretty packed Labor Day weekend. The reason this works right now is because LSU won't need a lot of hotel rooms.

They want state of the art venues for big games now
My statement was pretty generalized. The point is that it is time to either let go of the dome or really put money into modernizing it. Take a look at the trend of stadiums around the nation. Do they want marquee match ups in the new stadiums or a 50 year old stadium that hardly attempts to keep up with the times? I wish Louisiana would do something along the lines of what they have done with Lambeau. I thoroughly impressed with the stadium.

And wrong considering it still gets "big games."

The answer seems to be both since the Dame keeps getting big games.

I never said the dome won't get big games and can't still get big games. Maybe I should change that statement because it is probably the city itself doing the real work. If you thing the dome is on the same level as Jerry's World or the upcoming Raider's stadium you're crazy. I hate the arms race that occurs with stadiums and the cost the general public occurs, but some real vision needs to come to the Superdome. It's history only matters to the smallest NFL market in the US. These new stadiums aren't going to help.

No one said that.

And yet we still get the biggest events.

What part of my original statement isn't true?

Your implication that the Dome isn't what big game organisers want.

Correct, and it needs to be said. You're getting games now but how will the dome do 10, 20 years down the road. Are you confident that there is a plan to keep the building relevant other than it is a dome in New Orleans? The fan experience is moving way faster than Louisiana likes to. It took Hurricane Katrina and Fema money to get the several hundred million in renovations you have now. You have to reinvest into it constantly.

Do you have some inside info that they're doing nothing to prepare for the future?

Living in the state of Louisiana for an extended period of time usually teaches that

Yeah I don't think Decadence Fest really has an impact on people not wanting to NOLA nowadays like it may have had years ago.

It's not really small any longer
Decadence isn't really that small, but it is contained to the far side of the quarter to a few bars on Elysian Fields. Decadence people have no reason to be on Poydras really, although some of the hotels are now starting to host parties.

They spend money. Let them have their fun. Just keep the sex acts out of the middle of the street

Because the Superdome is old and outdated.

Decadence Fest is actually a pretty small deal.
And gays are harmless, much better than the typical pieces of shite you see around NOLA
its easy to not even notice decadence fest is going on depending on where tourists want to hang out.
gays aren't shooting and robbing people for crying out loud.
go past tropical isle on bourbon and its gay all the time anyway. haven't actually been to bourbon since 07, but i guess it's still more or less the same.

It is harmless, but it means a lot more hotel rooms are full than a normal "dead" weekend.
