I guess I don’t get it. I’m not upset that LSU didn’t sign a guy who, finally as a 5th year senior, was able to be the 7th man on a good team.

You’re correct, you don’t get it and don’t want to.

And only one of those played at LSU

And only about 10% of them played high school basketball in Louisiana.

La might not be currently producing but in the past, it was a different story.

Willia Reed
Robert Parish
Karl Malone
Howard Carter
Michael Sanders
Bob Petit
Elvin Hayes
Joe Dumars
Hot Rod
Bob Love
Don Chaney

And many others.

Drexler and Bill Russell were also born in Louisiana.

No, the state of Missouri does. When a kid leaves home during high school, there is no reason to think LSU gets some sort of home state advantage when recruiting them. In fact, it's usually the opposite and they are looking to go elsewhere.

1 PG and sorta 1 C over 3 recruiting classes...yeah we're loaded.

Nice...This also doesn't include players who may have been born elsewhere but raised in the state. Kerry Kittles for example.

That’s a good point. My intention wasn’t to be real specific on things like that, just to show that the talent is here and we’ve done a very poor job of keeping it for the last 20+ years at LSU. Dale Brown and Brady had Temple and Pierre to identify and connect us with the best in state kids including under the radar types but that relationship was never formed once White became the guy in that department. It’s cost us stability and some key pieces that could’ve made the difference on some teams. Imagine Rico Gathers on that Ben Simmons team, you’re def in the tourney and who knows how far that goes. Imagine having a guy like Mitchell Robinson on Wade’s 1st and maybe 2nd team. Imagine having Caleb Daniels and Jordan Wright on Wade’s last team. You can’t build any momentum with how we’re doing things at LSU basketball.

It’s not weak at all, but it is pretty irrelevant to present day recruiting.

so you have a bunch of 60+ year olds and Paul Millsap, Greg Monroe, and Danny Granger who actually played HS basketball in LA

the fact is that Louisiana does not produce much basketball talent

Bill Russell: deceased (born 1934 – died 2022), McClymonds High School (Oakland, California)
Karl Malone: age 61, Summerfield High School (Summerfield, Louisiana)
Elvin Hayes: age 79, E. E. Worthing High School (Houston, Texas)
Clyde Drexler: age 62, Sterling High School (Houston, Texas)
Willis Reed: deceased (born 1942 – died 2023), West Side High School (Lillie, Louisiana)
Bob Pettit: age 92, Baton Rouge High School (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)
Joe Dumars: age 61, Natchitoches Central High School (Natchitoches, Louisiana)
Orlando Woolridge: deceased (born 1959 – died 2012), Mansfield High School (Mansfield, Louisiana)
De’Aaron Fox: age 27, Cypress Lakes High School (Katy, Texas)
Antawn Jamison: age 48, Providence High School (Charlotte, North Carolina)
Danny Granger: age 41, Grace King High School (Metairie, Louisiana)
Rashard Lewis: age 45, Alief Elsik High School (Houston, Texas)
Robert Parish: age 71, Woodlawn High School (Shreveport, Louisiana)
Paul Millsap: age 40, Grambling High School (Grambling, Louisiana)
Greg Monroe: age 34, Helen Cox High School (Harvey, Louisiana)
Reggie Lewis: deceased (born 1965 – died 1993), Dunbar High School (Baltimore, Maryland)

You don’t have to tell me. I agree with you. Some people swear we are still loaded with hidden talent that nobody knows about every year.
