Doing it once is not continually.

He has a great 18 ft jumper.

Catch and shoot wherever you are. Stepping back takes you completely out of rhythm.

I think he is does it quite often. I have seen him do it a lot. The only time it bothers me is when he is actually behind the line and seems to step forward. I think it is kind of like no man's land in tennis. You need to know where the lines are when you are setting up and don't get cuaght up in that in between area. His natural motion seems to bring him a step forward. So he needs to be aware to start a little farther back. The shot in question wasn't an instance of this, but he did do it in the game.

Because when you have a great 18 foot jump shot, and you're wide open, you catch it and shoot it IN RHYTHM.

He hits that wide open 18 footer most of the time, not sure what we're complaining about here.

I dont think he does.

There's a big difference between an 18 footer and a 22 footer.

He is really good for the most part at only shooting it when he is wide open and he knocks that shot down more than he misses.

Why change anything?

I think he is saying if you're that close to the 3 pt line, put yourself in a position to be slightly behind it. If he can make 19 footers, 20 footers shouldn't be any harder.

You rarely see Thornton shoot a step inside the line. It's court awareness.

A minor criticism.

what is being talked about is the difference between a 21 footer and a 22 footer.

it pisses me off every time he shoots on the 3 point line.

it's stupid, just stupid

its one thing if he was stepping inside the line and shooting from 2 feet inside the line, but to shoot consistently his whole career on the 3 point line is stupid.

that shot will be fine in the NBA since the line would be 4 feet behind him, but in college that is a stupid shot, especially when he has time to set his feet and shoot an open shot.

what about the 2 or 3 where he stepped on the line and missed the shot a tad long?

i don't care how big or small, good or bad a shooter you are, shooting while standing on the 3 point line is a stupid shot in every level of basketball.

Well, he could be doing it b/c he is playing in a new arena, hard to get the feel of the court, has awful court awareness, or its b/c they did move the three point back a foot, so those would have been threes last year. But I'll let him shot whatever is the most comfortable at, which may be that shot right in front of the line!

Today?

Maybe I watched a different game but I didnt really see Tasmin take any shots where he was behind the arc and barely stepped on teh line.

He was at least 2 feet inside the line on all of those shots for the most part.

I even remember laughing at the announcer for saying he stepped on the line once when he was a good 2-3 feet inside the line, lol.
