Doesn’t change the fact that Nuss had a better year 1 than two Heisman Trophy winners. That’s a reason for optimism in my opinion.

Max Johnson had better numbers in 2021 than Joe Burrow did in 2018. Will Rogers was great in his first non covid year. He has gone down ever since.

Players don’t always get better because two other guys did

He wasn’t better, he just threw the ball a whole lot more

People are morons but the second Joe called that audible in the beginning of the Miami game I knew he was different, and we finally had a real QB.

He made great decisions with the ball and actually played well. His issue in 2018 was the terrible offense we ran. But anyone should have looked at him and known he was special - especially compare to what we had before him.

LSU fans hate a starting QB as long as a highly recruited one is on the bench. People hate Jayden Daniel’s for the first month even during his Heisman season. They hated Jamarcus who at the time was the best passer we had ever seen. They hated Rohan before 2001. It’s just what we do.

Joe in 2018 was nothing special. Some people were calling for his job and saying “we still don’t have a quarterback”.

Who? I knew from the first snap of the 2018 season that we had our Qb. Didn’t know he was gonna be goated, but absolutely knew he was really good.

I didn’t read the rest, but if you are playing transitive property with Joe, Jayden, and Nuss, you are being just as silly as those who said Joe and Jayden weren’t gonna be good if you think he automatically takes that step.

He has a LOT to change to get close to those two.

I did, and that was the exact point. I happen to have video and Facebook proof of that.

I think everyone loved the swagger he brought that game, but the pick 6 to lose the UF game and going October without a TD and 4 INTs had a lot of fans questioning him. The A&M game, even though it was a loss, showed a player that was going to be special.

Who’s the naysayers you speak of. Anyone worth an opinion should know this and Nuss will improve. But Good Gosh Almighty He HAS GOT to run the football. Manning & Brady ran more in their 40s than Nuss does. It’s absolutely mind Boggling!

You got me. I lied. I could tell he sucked just like the long line of suckage we had at QB prior. All those guys were capable of reading the defense at the line and calling an audible to gain a first down as well.
Thank god you're on this site to keep everyone honest.

Nuss’s 2024 campaign has been better than either of those guys’ first years starting at LSU. You have to look at the QBs’ first years in order to compare apples to apples here.

I don't remember Burrow or Daniel's being scared to take a hit or being wreckless with the ball. Nuss has fumbles to go with the INTs. Nuss has some big numbers, but look at the number of Pass Attempts when comparing.

I think people come at him because some on the rant have been building him up as the savior since his recruitment. Only to find out he's human like other QBs. Same would happen to Arch Manning if he came in and performed below expectations. He has much room for improvement. Hopefully, he makes the jump in year two.

Nussmeier is nothing special like Burrow was, you’re correct about that. But Nussmeier screws up really, really easy things to correct — and keeps doing it. He plays so far below his talent level and does not use the right tools in his arsenal at opportune times.

Jayden you’re especially right, he was not great his first year. However, when you’re not a great QB, being a burner with blazing speed helps mask a lot of that.

Burrow and especially Jayden also worked their asses off between season 1 and season 2 like no QB’s I’ve ever seen. It was insane. Does Nuss have that in him? Very few people do.

They weren't mediocre, they just weren't Heisman candidates those years.

There will be a lot of crow to eat when Nuss is holding the heisman next year at this time.

First of all IMHO mediocre is IMHO the wrong word - but they were comparable to the season Nuss had this year so if that's what you are trying to say then I agree. And they both improved significantly their next year here which was I think what you are getting at as well.

I mean JD5 was 266-388 passing for a 68% completion percentage and 2913 yards with 17 TD's and 3 pics and he also ran for 890 yards and another 12 touchdowns. Alot of teams would love to have that mediocre.

Both Burrow and Daniels had a set of first round draft pick wide receivers with a year’s worth of cohesion coming back with them. Both had experianced offensive lines coming back as well. Keep in mind Nuss can improve tremendously. I am just saying he is in a more difficult situation than both Burrow and Daniels unless this portal gives him similar tools to work with.

I argued at both times that they were two of the best QB seasons we’d seen in 15 years at LSU.
