Why do athletes continue to scrub their social media?

Before anyone starts a narrative about Boutte.. he only has 1 post on his Instagram now from the birth of his child.
I’ve noticed others that do it too… Tyrann Mathieu, Odell, Justin Jefferson, etc.
& then guys like Joe Burrow, Jamarr Chase don’t seem to care & still have posts from years ago.
It just seems like something that shouldn’t be that big of a concern for a player. However, it seems like it’s constantly been a thing for Boutte this season… scrubs it after the FSU game, then he makes posts during the season & after the Bama game, then removes them again after A&M.

Bc college football players are really just immature teenage girls in regards to social media. Attention.

What’s acceptable today will be cancellable tomorrow.

I scrub mine occasionally because the public always seems to blow it up into more than it actually is. Its just a marketing ploy for me....others do it most likely to draw extra attention to either their next post or the existing post they kept.

1) Who cares

Don't pay attention to it and it won't matter so much.

young people do this all the time. It's not 'cool' or 'bussin' to have more than a few pics on your accounts.

Why do grown adults care about a college athletes social media accounts?

Part of it is because idiots take this sports thing too seriously and don’t know how to act on social media.
Can you imagine having the mind of a 18-22 year old and people are constantly bashing you online because you didn’t play as good as they thought you should have?

Got to canvas your life on social media for attention. Almost as bad as those fricking instagram thots who canvas it while driving near killing you at a red light.
