Why didn’t LSU go after Justin Reid?

He seems to be just as good or better than his brother Eric. He’s stayed in the league a while now. I think he was only a three star recruit, and so he ended up at Stanford.
Our coaching staff should have know better though. He comes from a good bloodline since his brother was such a star for LSU.

I hung around a lot of the same circles as him when I was in high school/early college. He’s a good guy and very down to earth FWIW.

He was a top 200 prospect and top 10 safety. I think Raymond recruited him pretty hard but he wanted to go out of state.

Not specific to Justin Reid but generally speaking, just because a kid is a stud high school athlete doesn’t mean you want him on your team. What we fans seldom know is whether the kid has character issues, an academic risk or an injury history that would bump him down the list. And then you try to project his athletic growth, his heart and focus, his willingness to be coached up. But if he has a pretty mother sometimes you can work past the other stuff.

A Stanford diploma and a quicker path to start go a long way.

LSU definitely wanted Reid. And none of those things remotely applied to him. He wanted to go to Stanford because he felt they gave him the best chance to succeed after his athletic career was over. He valued the education from Stanford a lot.

I believe he had a final 3 of LSU, Stanford, and Notre Dame.

They did. He did not want to come to LSU. At the time Eric was in SF and he wanted to go out west.

He was a Raymond whiff like a long checkered list of Raymond whiffs his final years here.

Would you send to your child to LSU over Stanford if given the choice where his big brother also plays for the 49ers? If so then I’m sorry you’re a shitty parent.

His mom, dad, brother, and sister all went to LSU. LSU did nothing wrong. He didn’t start playing football until his freshman year. He was all soccer until then. He valued education more. I’m not saying he didn’t think he would have a pro career, but he definitely valued his education.

I would have done same thing. Can’t pass on Stanford education

LSU came in late but by then he had already locked in with Stanford and big bro was with 49ers and he could be close to him

We already had a reid. When you already have a reid, another reid becomes justa reid.

Recruiter's job is to sell and Raymond couldn't sell shite to any DBs in the back end of his career.
