I do not believe Jefferson should have started at the beginning of the season, but the question was why didn't he play? The problem was he got almost no work at all versus North Texas, App. State, and Tulane (the worst decision was this game). Whether Jefferson was 100% ready was a luxury LSU could not afford this year. You had a QB (Hatch) that basicly all he does is run, in the SEC this is asking to lose your QB which is what happened. Then knowing Lee is a stationary target (and could get hurt as well which is what happened), after Hatch gets hurt you give Jefferson no valuable work in the Tulane game. I believe the coaches could have had a simple package of 6-10 plays (not just hand-offs) for Jefferson even versus Tulane. This is when I heard the most complaints. Not playing him versus Tulane was a missed opportunity. No one can deny this

exactly.

jefferson shouldnt have started early this season, but he should have gotten at least a few snaps a game.

i say play them both next year

as much as i hate to admit this, i am pretty much in agreement with most of the rant here

i think sheppard gets the wildcat/tebow/perrilloux role and let Lee and JJ battle it out all spring and fall for the job

i HOPE that Miles knows who has the lead going into fall camp, even though the won't announce it, and that one of themtakes control as a leader and earns the respect of his teamates

for the spring game, give them both a team and let sheppard play for both squads.

i am very, very scared that this will devide the team the way it was divided under booty and rohan

Its too late to second guess now. Its not like we have a time a machine to rewind the season and start all over again.

Whats done is done and its time to move forward.

My take:

Bottom line Lee has had his chance moreso than ANYONE on the team. He has had a chance to prove himself agaisnt both weak(Miss St, Troy, North Texas) and strong(SEC) opponents and it just hasnt panned out. Yes he is a still learning but there is no signs of improvement from week to week out of the guy.

He throw the same types of passes that lead to pick sixes. He is not careful with the ball enough for me to trust him at qb.

Its Jefferson's turn now. If Lee wants his job back then earn it back. Show Tiger fans you deserve to be our qb over Jefferson.

Thats all Im saying.

Do ANY of you people even recognize the concept of how a damaged psyche can affect performance?

I swear to goodness, it's as if people never played a sport.

the spread largely hinges on the qb being able to make the appropriate read based on the defensive alignment and personel. when exactly has JJ excelled there?

Doc thinks you need a running QB to run the spread.

Which is why he doesn't even know what the frick the spread is.

When perriloux left any idea about redshirting jefferson should have went out the window. If hatch was going to be the designated runner and hander offer, you could have put a small package in for JJ and done the same thing.Added to it each week, then maybe if lee got hurt or stunk it up you would have at least had another option at qb. The fact that hatch was above JJ on the depth chart and getting more snaps was rediculous. The kid was a walk on brought in to fill a hole in the depth chart and never was going to be an sec QB.

i hope that doesnt happen....id rather see lee and jj both play because i honestly believe they both bring good things to the table and just leave sheppard in as a harvin

I kept hearing all year that Jefferson wasn't ready because he didn't know the plays. I never saw any prove that Lee was ready! If Lee knew the plays, he must have throwing pics on purpose. Lee must have looked good in practice, but the pressure of game time kicked his arse. No way Jefferson should not have given a chance much earlier in the season. Lee had more than enough time to redeem himself but failed to learn from his mistakes. I think he has a mental image of himself throwing a pic everytime a pass play is called now. He's screwed mentally.

I feel bad for the guy...I think if they would have let jj play more, lee would have settled down and kicked arse

Well if the guy had a "damaged psyche" thats even worse in my mind than not knowing the playbook.

He shouldnt have been in there in the first place if his head wasnt really in it. I guess that explains that play against Georgia where he chose to throw it away rather than run for the easy first down.

Look people. There have been may good points made on this topic. Let us all agree that we support whoever plays qb for LSU. Howvever, I think we should choose the qb who looks less likely to sh*t his pants between plays and more likely to make a play. If that is the criteria we must go with JJ.
