Why did the new box get built so generic?

It’s not necessarily bad, just nothing creative or memorable about it at all.
Are there any improvements being planned? I don’t feel like it needs more seating, just some unique characteristics?

One thing I hope we get from the new coach is demanding that we bring some of the uniqueness and energy back to the box. Need a 60 point checklist like Skip brought in.

Seems that I remember it being awesome at the time. Its been a little while now and was THE premier facility when it opened.

Yea it was a lazy build. Nothing about it stands out. They should have built a berm at least in the outfield.

They tried to make it just like the old box with a modern feel and it didn’t age well at all.

always been one of my complaints is how we didnt make it look professional or memorable.... rather just mehhh... like Arkansas looks professional. MSU is awesome stadium..

They should have but you lose bleachers and revenue from that. Skip's number one concern was revenue.

From what I remember it had more bells and whistles on the drawing board and then Katrina hit and the costs skyrocketed and they had to scale it down.
They mentioned at the time that it was built in a way that they could eventually add to it or get better amenities somewhere down the line.
It had far less suites in original stadium that opened in 2009 but they added additional suites shortly after it opened.
They can start with chairbacking it down left and right field lines and then removing the hideous bleachers in both left and right field and get more creative.

It was the race to 10k seats

They should honestly tear it down and rebuild, or do a massive renovation. It's an embarrassment.

My pet peeve with the box is there are 4 different colored seats. The purple down low, gold behind home, green along the baselines and metal in the outfield. WHY? MAKE THEM ALL PURPLE! And make the outfield wall purple too without the ads

Aluminum bleachers down both lines with Arkansas, Mississippi State and Ole Miss have chair backs.

Skip was in control of everything and had no imagination. Biggest concern is that there is no room for growth in its current buildout. Everything is on top of each other with other facilities past outfield.

Absolutely. Let all the old crews fly their flags. Improve the grounds outside of the stadium and encourage tailgating again. Those are good starts.
Some life may come back in the next few years because some of the "lifers" will phase out too. The whole row behind my seats in the gold seats has to be 75 years old. They show up in the 2nd inning and bail in the 6th. You might get a little golf clap out of them for a homer.

They are an eye sore when not completely full, especially the ones in the outfield.

"A checklist like Skip brought in" ? Katrina may or may not have cut back on some bells & whistles but the basic design is 100% Skip's. He bragged long & loud about touring the country to bring back the best in a stadium. And revenue was most certainly his #1 priority.

He was in his 70's when he oversaw the building of the new stadium (I think). New blood at the head of the program and a new list of improvements (I hope)

Skip would joke and say “NASA is moving the space program to Starkville because it has no atmosphere.”
Look at the stadium he built and look at the stadium state built and see who has more atmosphere.
