Yeah good luck telling Nuss to sit behind Brennan for another season when he can transfer and be immediately eligible somewhere else.

...and idk why some of you guys think Brennan is garuanteed to be the opening game starter for the 2022 season.

I don't think he's "already decided"...but he's definitely keeping all of his eligibility in case he does decide.

Would you feel the same if this situation was happening to an Auburn or A&M QB? You'd be screaming bloody murder that the NCAA is bending the rules for those teams.

Maybe. I suspect I would hardly pay it any mind if any team's 3rd string quarterback was allowed to play in a meaningless dinkiest of the dinky bowl game - even a "heated rival."
that's a complete deflection that didn't address my question.

The redshirt rules exist and are well known. And they've been greatly relaxed the last few years. The NCAA shouldn't waive them, whether it benefits us or any other school.

His redshirting THIS YEAR doesn't make sense and anybody telling you it does hasn't thought it completely through.

If he starts next year, it's his job

If he's a backup, he'll get in 4 games or less to preserve the redshirt.

If Brennan gets hurt again, then it's Nuss's job because this is Brennan's last year anyway.

Even if he transfers before the season starts next year if he doesn't like his role, then he can still play immediately anywhere for 3 years or redshirt there while studying whatever offense for a year.

You'd have thought that all the local talking heads and die hards on here would have thought of all this. I've been saying ever since this shite was brought up that it makes no damn difference for him if he redshirts this year or sometime within the next 3 years.

Sorry for being pessimistic, but that would require Myles being healthy for at least 3/4 of a season as a starter.

I really hope he does, he’s a great Tiger and I want him to go out with a huge year, but he hasn’t shown he can do it yet.

Think about this though, in relation to burning the redshirt this year.

The worst case scenario is that you actually end up playing MORE than 4 games next year as starter. That experience is invaluable and he would be an idiot to choose redshirt over that as, assuming he plays well, he'd be in a position (at worst) to transfer into a starting position from there.

I thought they could redshirt any year. Didn’t Myles redshirt his sophomore year?

They can. But unless he wasn’t granted a waiver and plays tomorrow he would still have a year to red shirt. That’s why they say you have 5 years to play 4

I said maybe (meaning I might or might not feel the same). I honestly have no idea how I'd feel. Give me an identical type of scenario and I will let you know. I honestly have a hard time envisioning me thinking it a huge deal either way. If that's a "deflection" so be it.

Just play the fricking game no QB stays 4 years anyway. Brennen starts next year Nuss is a Soph Howard RS. Two years Nuss a Jr and Howard RS Fresh fight it out.

… LoL.. some of you are putting all your marbles in on Myles Brennan who has yet to survive a full football season without getting hurt and shitting all over Nussmier in the meantime… what happens if Brennan gets hurt in the 1st game of the season and Nussmier decided to transfer before the season???… does Jontre Kirklin have anymore eligibility or do we roll with a walk on QB??… better yet does LSU throw an inexperienced high school QB coming off a knee injury to the wolves???.. some of you fans will eat your own to suit your preference(s)…as long as a player puts on the LSU uniform and wears it proudly he should be praised and cheered for his tenure here….

Can the backup not redshirt? I mean it isn’t that damn hard play the game and redshirt when you are backup next year. If you end up the starter next year and continue to beat out Brennan and Howard, you aren’t playing 4 more years anyway.

He is soft, he is quitting, end of story.

This is why he’s probably saving his red shirt ,because it’s going to be a quarterback competition between him and Myles Next spring. if Myles beats him out and if Walker is The real deal and he does not have a shot to beat him out in 2023 he has all his eligibility. Which he would be one play away from playing anyway if Walker gets hurt and playing in the SEC every game you’re one play away, so it would make a lot of sense for him just to stay No matter what happens
