Let me know when the last time a P5 team hired a new non-interem coach over the age of 60 was. For that matter list the group of 5 teams that have hired a new non-interem coach over 60 and who that was.

The only guy I can think of at all is Jim Grobe, who is Les's age, who was hired as an interem at Baylor then replaced by Matt Rhule.

You don't seem to understand that most of them haven't graduated from any college and a sizable portion haven't made it out of high school.

I didn't think you people realize coaches want to coach.
That's their life.

Les miles isn't coaching because no one has offered him a job.
Fall back on this buy out money all you want, that's a smoke screen.

FTR I have zero Ill will towards the man.
Fact is he isn't coaching because nobody in college football wants him.

Yall should deal with that fact. Quit making excuses for him.

Would you take a huge step down in prestige and pay (notwithstanding the buyout) in your career? I don't think you understand how higher level career positions work.

I am Sure he says “ I am Not coaching unless I’ll make more money than I am Now”

And no one wants to pay him that. Or can afford to.

Because he is a terrible gameday coach who embarrassed LSU on multiple occasions on national tv. Oh and he’s a liar and all about money...

That’s why.

agreed, but the logic is a bit different for a guy that's already financially set for life. At this point, with the money Les already has, it should be about doing what he wants to do and living where he wants to live.

If he wants to coach at a lesser college or even high school, go for it. He doesn't need to worry about "climbing the ladder" anymore.

At this point, it's about happiness and fulfillment, not money. Spurrier even mentioned just wanting to help out somewhere.

Well he did do some seriously stupid things on the sidelines from time to time....things you don't see too many coaches do.

For the same reason he wasn't considered after interviewing at Houston. His plan of attack he put together relies on pricey staff members. Only uppermost echelon jobs have those kind of resources, and he isn't in contention for any such job.

He also did some really good things that other coaches didn't do while he was here. The revisionist history from you guys is cute though.

Yes, but don't you think he's doing that via his podcasts and TV appearances, etc.? Les is not going to accept a head coach position at some high school or community college, at least not within a year or two of being let go from a program like LSU. Come on.

Didn't you pay any attention to Miles when he was our coach? Serious question.

For the early part of it, he had as much fire as anyone, and it showed. Bold, aggressive calls on the field. Dude would bristle at suggestions he would leave here. And he loved coaching against Urban's Florida and Saban's Bama teams, and won his share of them.

Sometime late, after his BCS title and the dropoff, and the rebuild to prominence that followed, he lost that fire. That's when he started doing the off-the-field things, like the "it must be the shoes" video, and the focus on the Alabama cancer patient.

Les isn't like Saban in makeup, he was approaching retirement and had done an impressive job here at LSU, fan complaints aside. He's very open and active about spending time with his family. I think he would have retired as soon as he reached the last milestone he could here (I think he was within a few games of having the most wins ever here), but otherwise he was coasting.

This year in particular points to that. Our fanbase mocks him, but you better believe Tennessee, now Miss St, Ole Miss, and any number of Power 5 mid-tier programs would gladly hire a guy with his record and a championship ring on his finger... if he were willing to take the job.

Hot garbage? He won 8 games in his worst season. Won 9 his last full season here. Never a losing season or even a .500 season here. You people are nuts.

You're implying no school has hired him because he's a bad coach. Which isn't true. No school has hired him because he's 64 years old.

And, Les isn't going to go coach san antonio state. He wants a P5 job, but at 64 they aren't hiring him. If he was 10 years younger he would be coaching in the sec.
