... Because we know what's ahead on our schedule. Duh.

If we are going to ignore what is happening with the defense and beat our chests for racking up points against a vastly outmatched opponent, then we truly have become a Big 12 team. That's the kind of crap they do all the time.

It's not just them being upset.

It's a fricking meltdown. It's doomsday scenarios. It's getting all cocky like they know for damn sure that there's NO WAY LSU stands a chance against Bama and will for sure lose multiple games this year. It's calling Dave Aranda overrated/overpaid and calling for his job. It's saying that LSU has accepted a new mentality and Coach O is ok with being a Big XII team. It's living in full on anxiety and in hyperbole.

It's like when you and your friends are out and people watching, and observe the weird guy/girl who overreacts and y'all are laughing your arse off at them watching them across the room. Except, that's a good portion of the LSU fanbase right now.

It's to the extent that sometimes I wonder if SEC rant posters create alters and come on here to pose as LSU fans because surely somebody can't be that ridiculous.

There is no scenario where mailing it in should be acceptable. Also some of the biggest breakdowns were when the game was “close”

I was at everyhome game during the Hallman years. This defense is not that bad.

If we had similar talent to those teams they would be much worse...terrible comparison

I think what bothers me the most is the mindset and complacency. I know its not that we can't be a good defense, its the fact that we see they can make stops, then totally have a let down series. As a defense, you have to have a mentality of not giving up a point no matter what the score is and we don't have that at all. We have the mentality of, "oh well, the offense will just score again." I feel like that will come back to bite us later in the year if we don't change. We will get to the point where we won't know how to switch it in gear when we have to and teams are stopping our offense.

I have never seen an LSU defense so porous - we resemble the defenses I used to mock. Inexplicable to me.

Never?

Also, they don't understand that our defense will be giving up more just because of the type of offense we run now and the defense being on the field more because of it.

This is simply an excuse we are making for the defense.. Why can teams like alabama and Ohio State have the same type of offense, but stop teams from scoring? Its a mindset and mental toughness.

People are upset because they are chicken littles and the epitome of catastrophe syndrome.

We gave up 375 yards, less than 50% passing and 4.3 ypc. That's certainly not worth melting over.

You can’t pin close losses on one unit. The offense in those games you mentioned had opportunities to put it away and failed to do so.

And that same score could be in favor of the opponent, and some sanctimonious people would find a way to defend it, to show what "great fans" they are. Because honest observations are only allowed when they fit your perception of the universe. Sounds like left wing politics.

Most of it is not honest observations it is just idiots running their mouth. As for yesterday the game was already out of hand ,and the offense could have put up 80 if they wanted to. You think that you can make an honest evaluation of defense from a game like that?

There's a reason why teams scored on Bama and we didn't last year..when your offense scores in two minutes it just gives the other team more opportunities to score. I agree our defense has taken a step backwards but our offense makes it seem worse than what it is imo.

Ummm. If the defense doesn’t, ya know, actually tackle the other guy with the ball? That’s not good.

As I watch the Defense miss tackles and blow assignments, I wonder if OUR OWN OFFENSE broke the Swag of our D in scrimmages even before the season started.

They didn't slack off. The coaching staff isn't happy about it so why should I be? They also said with most all the D-line starters out....they were basically playing with the 2nd d-line unit but that's no excuse for mistakes.

Particularly when Vandy scored a TD on it’s opening drive. And when Texas did it’s damage coming out of halftime. Such a bullshite excuse made by people trying to sound sophisticated.

It's simply people making excuses. I find myself making excuses, also, but watching the way we play, makes it hard to defend them anymore. I still think we are capable of being a good defense, we just have to change the mentality.
