Why are people acting like this was a once in a lifetime LSU football roster?
Specifically talking about the offense.
But I do wonder if people say that because we had the best offense in the history of college football. But that can't be it, can it?

I still think the 2006 team might be the most all around talented LSU team i've ever seen
Agree 100%
Just historically horrible play calling in the auburn game, and some bad breaks against the eventual national champs in Florida.
That team was nasty. They basically prison raped that Arizona team.

Better than 2011?
I think so. Defense comparable and offense was significantly better.

Lafell..Dural..Quinn..Dupree..all dropped too many balls. No idea about the others. Of course WR and RBs would have liked to play in the 2019 offense.
Even the current crop of receivers dropped a lot of balls in 2018. LSU had two drops towards the end of the Florida game in 2018 that could have made a difference. In the 2019 offseason the WR made the commitment and paid the price to catch the ball.
In the past..Insiders told us that LSU receivers did not understand the offense and the route trees and the options, audible calls enough to run an offense like this... BS.
Having said that, LSU has had a ton of skill position talent for many years. We have had a few QBs that could make use of the talent. We have never had a scheme that could maximize the talent. We did drop off in line of scrimmage talent in the last few years
Again we lose to Bama twice in BTR on the last possession. If Trey Quinn does not drop two simple slant routes we win in 2014. In 2012 we fail on a 4 th and 1 and go to the Chavis prevent victory defense. Of course tHen Miles is still probably the coach
Whatever

Don't think most thought it was a generational roster more than from a shear statistics standpoint. Let's be honest, those numbers are gonna be hard to beat.

That 2011 offense wasn’t world beaters or anything.
You need to go back and review the stats. Had 500 points in 14 games. The offense was pretty good considering Miles' QB tinkering.
Defense was dominant. That team kicked people's azzes all season long up until the natty - which was a Miles debacle coaching-wise.

Well, because we will have 12 to as many as 15 players drafted in the 2020 draft. THAT's A LOT.
And probably another 7 or 8 next year.

Have not had a QB even close to this since Bert Jones.

I know the point you are making, but it was kind of a perfect storm this year to be honest. A lot of the talent you mentioned (at WRs specifically) is not nearly as good as what we just had. Even in a better offense, some of them were just guys seen as talented that weren't actually good WRs.
Some morons will take this the wrong way, but we'll probably never have a year like we just had.

I mean, it’s close. This was the best single season in LSU history. And we’re losing a ton of players. Doesn’t mean we don’t have studs coming back, but this team was ridiculous in talent.

So the scheme is just gonna pop out more joe burrow’s? Sign me up

Specifically talking about the offense. I keep hearing people say that all the stars had to align perfectly for us to have so many playmakers on offense this year.
I don't think many have been saying the stars had to align to have such a talented offense. More so that just the way everything came into place at once and this particular combination of coaches/players.
I definitely think the stars had to have aligned for us to have the success that we did. Orgeron humbling himself and getting someone to revolutionize the offense. A great offensive line and 5 HIGHLY skilled players in Chase, Jefferson, Marshall, CEH, and Moss. We got Joe Brady for one year. We got generational type player in Burrow. He may not have the biggest arm or the fastest 40, but it's his intangibles (awareness, pocket presence, reading the defense, knowing when to run/throw the ball away/take a sack, etc). The way he manipulated the pocket was the greatest I've ever seen in a college QB. He understood the concepts of what we were trying to do in the offense so well. The work that Burrow and the WRs put in during the summer can't be understated either.
Imagine if Burrow wasn't here the one year that Brady was here? Hell, Brady may still be here if it wasn't for Burrow to run his offense.

If Ensminger truly absorbed everything that Brady brought here and O can bring in someone with a background in spread playcalling, the fun is going to continue.
I’m pretty sure Ensminger absorbed most of it, because I watched the replay of the UCF game and it was mostly right there - BEFORE Brady came.

I was at the 06 auburn game. We shackled the offense until middle of fourth when we were losing. Then we turned the rock loose. We suddenly move down field as we hadn't all game. Then we get to auburn 30, here came the shackles and we got nothing.
That offense talent was equal to or better than this year's.
Go see sugar bowl when Monken was allowed to call plays.

Agreed we just ran retard offense against Auburn and Jamarcus and refs screwed us at Florida. Burrow was better leader decision maker than Jamarcus though.
Posted on 1/23/20 at 8:09 pm to Tiger79
Jamarcus was so damn big and had such a powerful arm he didn't need to scramble as Joe did at times.

2006bqas a damn strong team

Like I said, we will likely never have a QB as good as Burrow. But I'm talking about the rest of the skill players
Clyde is the best receiving back since Kevin Faulk...as a Patriot
Jamarr is a deep ball guru...never a better tiger at it, the 1 arm on the run vs. Clemson sealed that, the other arm was battling the DB...
Cush, bro...hell the entire OLine...
Idk...I've seen some plays made that never should have been
