Ummm...

That is a testament to what he built. That class was after success from going to the CWS with lesser classes. What did he do in '15 with that class? Won it.

Hell yeah, that was a great class even looking back. We got fricked thanks for Marshall and Latz. Still no idea why Godfrey left like he did.

We know why they leave many times? It's the coach is such a dick. We all have seen MANY MANY articles on here where he threw his players under a bus because of trying to show they need to own it. That is not a public conversation. Period.

After many years of leading younger folks, one of the worse things you can do is have them feel they can't trust you. Leadership is about allowing them to shine, and when they screw up, privately discuss the situation and figure out how to help them not allow it happen again by giving them support. It doesn't mean that you're soft. To the contrary. You have to hold them and yourself accountable to get the best out of them.

Marshall left because he never wanted to be here in the first place and as soon as he realized he'd have to compete with Lange and Latz for starts, he pussied out. Latz left because he didn't listen to doctors and wanted to blame everyone else but himself. Byrd left because PM is a dick. Godfrey??? He was just brought to Omaha and was given many opportunities to start and would likely get them. Did he want a gaurantee?

My speculation on him was that he wanted a guarantee of more innings than we could promise him. I don't necessarily think Godfrey or Mainieri were in the wrong.

Godfrey was thinking about his long term baseball development and Mainieri about winning currently. This is a normal clash of goals that happens every single year in a lot of big time programs. Sometimes both can be accomplished at the same time. Sometimes a kid needs to go to JUCO where winning isn't necessarily the primary focus, but development is.

After the season is over or is he done for the season now?

He opted not to have the surgery last summer. I'm assuming he's waiting to get it until the end of this season.

If he's too injured to play now, why wait?
I don't know much about this kind of stuff.

He can still hit. At the time, to be DH and part of what many thought would be a team with a very good chance to win it all. I don't think he wanted to miss out on that.

Correct. Plus, he can still catch some, but his arm strength is not what it was.

I guess LSU fans didn't realize how problematic it would be losing two of our best players to injury for the season - one of our best hitters (DH) in Jordan, and one of our best closers in Norman....

I'm not sold that these two would have made very much difference the last 7 games honestly. We don't have a personnel problem, IMO. Does it change dynamics? Sure, but we still have good players who have the ability to execute.

Do you realize how rare that run was? It's like some of our fans think we are gonna go on a run just like that again.
