This a rhetorical question?

Actually wasn't a question at all. I still have some hard feelings about him but if he had gone to the trouble of attending the ceremony, I'd have a lot of respect for him for doing that. I'd hope that he wouldn't get piss balloons thrown at him but with our fans I wouldn't put money on that.

I wonder what sort of response he would have gotten from the crowd.

I don’t see Saban getting one at LSU. Sure he built the program up, but not after the way he left. He was here four years and has one championship. Miles had more success and was way more faithful to LSU. Regardless whether you believe he simply sustained Saban’s foundation.. he still did way more for LSU.. so he should get a statue way before a Saban, who already had an Alabama statue.

Yes Saban was rebuilding a team but he was 39-13 to Miles 42-11 in their first four years. I appreciate what Saban did here, but at the same time he has taken away a ton of potential success from LSU by leaving LSU and ending up at a rival. He has some questionable recruiting in this state and he taken away a ton of top Louisiana talent. He has also beat LSU 7 times in a row now? I’ve actually lost count.. it would just be too disgusting to see a statue of that guy around here. A place he has owned for nearly a decade.

Does Urban Meyer have a statue at Florida or any plans for such? At least he actually won 2 championships there and didn’t go to a rival. He simply went “home.”

Should Saban be in the statue discussion?

He’s snatched away as many championships from LSU as he won for LSU.

EDIT: Guy above me summarized my thoughts perfectly.

The best back ever had, but never won a championship of any kind with. That’s sad when you think about it. We didn’t even manage to win a damn Western Division title while the guy was at LSU, largely due to coaching incompetence.

Les Miles won a national ship and played for another one. Best coach in LSU football history not even anyone close.
