4 top 10 SEC games on the road?
The rest of that schedule was pretty trash though

6-6 ull
6-6 arizona
4-8 tulane
3-9 miss. st
8-5 kentucky
4-8 fresno st
6-7 bama
4-8 Ole miss

So you had 5 road/neutral site games against top 11 teams and 8 games against crap.

Eta: and you say this
quote:

2006 team got better and better as the season went on,
but forget that in the 2nd to last game of the regular season a 3-7 (at the time) Ole miss team had a 13 point lead on you with 9 minutes left in the game. We tied it up on a 4th down pass to Dwayne bowe with about 15 seconds left in the game. They blocked the extra point and we ended up winning in OT, but that was an ugly game right at the end of the season.

I love the 06 team and it might be the most talented team lsu has ever had, but it had its flaws

The only other ranked team they played all season though was Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.

2011 schedule had 4 games vs teams ranked in the top 3 at the time. 9 games vs ranked opponents. Beat the eventual champions of 3 of the 5 BCS bowl games (2 on the road and one neutral site).

I'm not trying to downplay 2011's schedule. They whipped Oregon, the Rose Bowl champs. They won at West Virginia, Orange Bowl champs, they won at Bama, Sugar Bowl champs.

Do you think 2011 team beats Oregon if they play them in the last game as opposed to the first game?

The 2006 team was playing it's best ball of the season at the end of the year. I would have done anything to see that team in a playoff. The 2011 team played it's worse ball of the season towards the end, they did not pick up a single 1st down vs UGA until midway in the 3rd quarter.

2006 team would shutout the 2011's offense.

2011 defense had Mingo, Logan, Brockers, Montgomery, Minter, Mathieu, Claiborne, Reid, Taylor, Brooks, Simon.

Jesus Christ....

Just my opinion but 2011 was lsu's best team. They would have beaten any other......even 2003.

I think 2006 would win a very close low scoring game.

The defenses are closer than people think, though 2011 was probably better.

Offensively it isn't close, 2006 by a lot.

Special teams edge definitely favors 2011, but not enough to win a hypothetical matchup.

LSU 2006 was POWERFUL.
LSU 2011 was RESOURCFUL.

Matt Flynn (#7 LSU) decimated (#6 Miami) in Atlanta 2005. It was Matt Flynn's first serious opponent as a starting quarterback.

LSU 2006 vs 2011 could go either way,

This is a good point and I guess it might matter at what point if the season they were playing this hypothetical game.

2006 got off to a slow start but I would argue that by the end of the season they were the best team in CFB and possible the most complete team LSU ever had.

2011, as good as they were, played their worst 3 games (offensively at least) at the tail end if he season.

Don't forget how awful the offense was for most of that SECCG.

It's Alabama
2011 Alabama and LSU are arguably the two best college football teams in History.

2011 would beat 2006 by a good margin.
The offense of 2006 was good but the defense of 2011 was insane.

Somewhere around 35-10 to 28-17 I'm thinking.

How are they going to rewrite history with you bringing up all these facts and shite?

Of course the going was tough vs #5 D and the #1 D twice, but 2011 offense had it's season best stretch of Total O late to end reg season under the hated JJ. More facts.

IMO 2006 had a good offense, but 2011 was a more complete team and would've taken the hypothetical victory knee.

No.
and explain how 4 loss UGA was able to not allow one of the best teams ever to not even get a first down in the first half on 7 possessions?
the 2011 teams offense was crumbling late in the season. 2006 teams offense looked unstoppable late in the season.

The psychological factors of the 2011 NC gave a huge advantage to Alabama in that game which was a good reason for the voters to not manipulate the system to help Bama. The true game between the two happened in November that year.

At that point LSU had defeated Bama in a tournament format in every sense by winning the SEC Championship. There was no way anyone associated with the team, coaches or players, were ever going to be able to hype themselves and motivate themselves to the level of Bama.

LSU played by far the hardest schedule in the country. Went undefeated in the SEC winning a championship. They beat Bama on the road with no controversy in the win. In top of all of this the computers had ranked Oklahoma St above Alabama. So LSU was getting matched up by the media with a team who hadn’t earned their way there.

You mean the Bama defense that was the first team in 25 years to lead the country in all 4 defensive categories (points allowed, total yards, rush yds and passing yds)?

06 offense was better, 11 better on D and special teams.

UGA had a good D, you seem to be forgetting they lost by 32. Matheiu kick started it but we rolled them

The defense scored 14 of the 42. The defense gave the offense the ball inside the opponents 30 twice to set up TD's. That happened before the offense scored a TD on their own, and the game was out of hand. The offense had one decent drive the entire game, a 10 play drive that was started by a interception deep in our territory. The other 3 TD drives were 4 plays or less. The offense looked terrible that game, and followed it up with a historical terrible game. Who scores 42 points and punts 8 times in a game, all 8 coming from 3 and outs? Wing was averaging 3 punts a game in the previous 12 games before the UGA game.

I still have no idea what happened to the 2011 offense. I don't know how they looked so awesome on offense against the previous 12 opponents, outside of the bama game, then the last two games of the year looked terrible.
