re: Who wins: LSU 2006 vs LSU 2011

2006 was a fabulously talented team and offered more balance than 2011, but strangely, the 2006 team was susceptible to sputtering against good defenses, spoiling good defensive efforts against Florida and especially Auburn. Playing a GREAT defense like 2011 would probably be too much for them. 2011 in a tight one. But on second thought ...
if you take the two teams from the latter half of their seasons, I might give the nod to 2006. Keiland Williams got those famous calves churning by then and Russell hit another gear, as well. On the flip side, 2011 cast their lot with Jefferson at QB, and I can imagine that version of the O would have struggled mightily against the '06 D.

One game they didn't cross the 50
LSU made it to around the Bama before penalty and a sack took them out of FG range IIRC.
Also SEC-E champ UGA had 2 losses when they met LSU in 2011, not 4.

Just a reminder of the 2006 defense
Pittman - Dorsey - Favorite - Ricky Jean- Tyson Jackson
Beckwith - Highsmith
Zenon - Steltz - Daniels - Laron - Chevis
They didn't have the speed of 2011's, but those are some big hitters there. I miss having a defensive line full of monsters.

what does this prove about that teams offense? that they didn't suck arse that day?

Again, what does that prove here? you just like pointing out fun stats that have little meaning?
They didn't have to play LSU or Bama or Arkansas that year. Arkansas's only losses on the year were to Bama and LSU. They lost to Boise State, at home, and South Carolina, and had an easy schedule missing the heavy hitters from the west. They got their asses handed to them by a team that only mustered 237 yards of total offense.

still have no idea what happened to the 2011 offense. I don't know how they looked so awesome on offense against the previous 12 opponents, outside of the bama game, then the last two games of the year looked terrible.
uga and bama were top 5 defenses.
we only punted 1 time in the second half and had 13 1st downs.
so as bad as we were in the 1st half we we were good in the 2nd half

UGA only had 2 losses when playing LSU for the SEC championship, proves itself without any help from me.
Question is, what are you trying to prove but failing so miserably at.
Your suckage at spinning your opinion is the only proof so far.

Interesting thread.....
2006 was a real good team... 2011 was a great team....
I don't see 2006 team going to Bama in 2011 and beating them.... and we may have at least scored in the rematch, our 2006 D would have probably giving up even more points than the 2011 team did in the NC....

2011, as good as they were, played their worst 3 games (offensively at least) at the tail end if he season. Don't forget how awful the offense was for most of that SECCG
Add to this the rape provided by Alabama in the BCSNC.

Well 2011 was LSU’s best team ever IMO. So them. I’d say 2011 20-13

2011 would destroy that garbage arse Oline from 2006
Posted on 10/13/17 at 8:00 pm to ctiger69
2011 defense was way better than 2006...

Can't win if you can't score. 06 wins that game.
