As of recent Johnny Jones. He completely destroyed the basketball program. Luckily Wade has come to save the day.

In my lifetime, it’s Curley.

Way down the line, probably Smoke Laval. Guy took the greatest baseball team in the country to the third best in the state very quickly.

Charles E. Coates. Got blown out by Tulane in his only game as football coach. For an all-time record of 0-1

Johnny Jones did make the NCAA tournament once and brought in a few good players.

Curly was the all time worst. Never had a winning season, and had the worst modern day (maybe all time) season record for LSU @ 2-9.

Curley is an apple. J. Jones is an orange. Take your pick. I guess you also have to include Nicki Vargas in the conversation. My vote goes to the one who put me in the most bad moods and that would be Hudson "Curley" Hallman.

There’s no maybe about it. 2-9 in ‘92 was absolutely the worst record ever. In the near previous 100 years (LSU started playing football in 1893), LSU had never had back-to-back losing seasons until ‘89-‘90 under Archer. Curly topped it by pushing the streak to SIX STRAIGHT losing seasons.
