That isn’t true. He had a disaster with how he handled wade and the hiring of MM. he has also had a few pr shite shows for no reason, his O contract, failure to buy O down. He isn’t as bad as the previous guy but it’s not like Scott only has one issue.

This is my favorite Woodward narrative and always tells me it’s someone who doesn’t contribute a dime.

Woodward is in place to go get the best coaches he can find and get them here. Kelly’s money isn’t even that bad compared to other elite coaches especially considering we had to pry him from Notre Dame.

What is with this board’s obsession with “talented up and comers?”

How about established top coaches? Did he whiff with his WBB hire because he went for an established/proven hire instead of some “talented up and comer?

How about football? Are you saying he should have gone for someone still trying to prove his abilities instead of Kelly?

No point whatsoever in going after “talented up and comers” when you can poach the best from already elite programs.

Dean is the definition of sucking as an AD.

Wasn’t it Dean who started charging students to go to basketball games?

There are some who bash Woodward at every turn for whatever reason even if it lacks factual basis.

The answer has to be Alleva. What an absolute shite show. “I am the search” brought us the DL coach turned interim turned head coach despite having zero success as a head coach previously

That alone is enough.

Feels like many have lost touch with reality. I think criticism of Woodward is fair especially in regards to how the mens basketball program/situation was handled.

But Kelly, Mulkey, and Johnson were very good hires

And I have enjoyed a couple of other hires in other programs which has recently invigorated some life into each (Tonya Johnson for volleyball and Bishop for swim program)

Skip - Smoke, letting Henry (ruined the WT&F dynasty) and Saban walk

A. Saban was going to scratch the NFL itch. Wayne Huizinga made it know publicly that he was simply going to outbid LSU, and he did it.

The Jimbo and Kelly contracts are going to bite both schools in the arse for a long time.

Jimbo’s current contract is not on Woodward. A&M extended him after one good year during the Covid season.

Skip - he let Henry walk and didn’t let Saban back in. In hindsight, these are nearly unforgivable moves that cost LSU multiple national championships.

Bob Broadhead and it aint close. When he was A.D. i went in the gift shop at Tiger Stadium to look around. While I was there I asked a gentleman, perhaps in his 60's, if he knew of any old FB games on disk. He said no. He said they had boxes of old film from the 20's in a store room and that Broadhead told him to put them in a dumpster. His reasoning was that if it happened before he came then they were not important. He was an idiot.

Lol. So the guy who hired Bill Arnsparger, Skip Bertman, and Pat Henry and had the vision to try and make LSU elite was the worst AD ever and it ain’t close huh?

It was easily Joe Dean until Alleva. It will likely be Alleva until the end of time.

Well, not only that, it was exhausting. Saban flirted with at least 1 NFL offer all but 1 offseason when he was here. He had ties to the Giants, the Browns, etc., and I get all that, but it was exhausting for the AD's office to have to deal with that every off-season.

Nature of the beast. He did it at Michigan State. He did it here. He assassinated Shula from the shadows to get a landing place there. And he did it to Bama there at the mid-career, particularly with Texas.

Saban hire technically and we are not giving that to a university president because all coaching hires are assigned to the AD in charge at the time

Dean and Alleva were both absolutely horrific. I think the lesson here is don't hire ADs named Joe.
