I was there. I always liked the way Macy shot free throws. Would wipe his hands on his socks bounce ball three times, shoot and swish!

I was there when Macy made the jumper to beat us. Heckled him and Charles (round mound of rebound) Barkley. He was heckled way more than Macy!

The good old days!

I remember going to an LSU basketball clinic at the Field House where Kyle Macy was one of my instructors (while he was in the NBA). I was in 10th grade, I believe.

I remember being at the game at the end of the season (1980, I believe) and I believe the winner was going to win the SEC regular season championship. He hit a last second jumper from the top of the key to beat us.

Ethan embarrassed him that game. Scored like 25, probably his most ever, and held Macy to 9. But Macy hit that last shot.

If we are talking bad UK basketball memories, I was at the 33 point blown lead game. We used to give Pelphrey and Travis Ford hell.

Still see the shot in slow motion, dribbling to his left, the student section, and he nails it. Sucked then. Still sucks.

Barkley and pizza box, anyone?

If I recall correctly, wasn't that the same day the us won the gold medal in hockey? We were all in line to get in to the game (line stretched from the assembly center, around Bernie Moore and along Nicholson) and listening to the hockey game.

Kyle Macy had the deepest knee bend on a free throw I've ever seen. He sure could shoot.

That was like the only shot Macy made that day or so 10 pts I think. In the first UK-LSU game in Lexington Howard Carter scored like 8 straight points on Macy when LSU cleared out and let him go one on one and he just owned Macy. Helped LSU get out to a good first half lead and win game. I Hi-C ended up with 20 or so with maybe 12 or 14 in first half. In regular season finale in PMAC they put Minniefield on Carter and Macy on Martin. I remember my buddies and I laughing because we new Ethan E was going to use Macy. Sure enough though Scales and Macklin had off games Ethan scored I believe 31 and almost led LSU to victory.

Oh and by the way Willie Sims nickname wasn't Superman it was Supersub! As in who dat that's supersub flies like a piper cub off the bench in the game Willie Sims claim to fame!

The best sixth man in LSU history!

If I'm not mistaken, LSU beat UK 81-67 in Jan '81 in Deaf Dome, and was 17-0 in the SEC going into the SEC finale at Rupp. The only thing I remember about the end of that one was Howard Carter taking a shot from the left corner that I think would have tied it, but it was blocked. We all swore he was fouled but the ref was scared to call it. I think we won the SEC tourney, and we beat Wichita State in the Superdome to advance to Philly.
I remember the last reg season home game was against Ole Miss and we set the all-time attendance record. I was the first ine in line at 7 in the morning because the first 10 students got to shoot for a car. I made the layup and free throw but missed top of key shot..

When I was in college in Indiana, a bunch of guys went to see Macy play high school ball. He was a senior and was one of the top guys in the nation. Gym was packed and we had to stand the whole game. Unbelievable talent.

Honestly, it was a Hoosier moment for sure and something I will never forget...

Kyle Macy was one of the best college point guards that I had ever seen play. Pretty clutch player even though he played for UK.

That game was awesome! I can remember Dale Brown jumping/leaping from the court after the game. He was beyond excited. Two days before the games in Philly my boyfriend showed up at my apartment with tickets to the first game. We flew up in the morning, toured the city on the way in from the airport and hung out at the team's hotel. Luckily we didn't have tickets to the consolation game. Best thing they ever did was get rid of that game.
