Hill, Landry, Beckham and Collins are all staying. They want a ring and a degree. Seriously

I could see the last three being close but how many semesters has Hill been in college Since he started a year late?

Course yes All could share the want for the ring

So I originally thought this was another "stadium half empty" thread. Anyone else?

Most of these are dramatically overestimating their draft status.

Of course it is very easy to spell "UFA".

Unless they need to truly feed their families, they should stay- neither are ready, and will be drafted late and unlikely to be kept on an NFL roster, unless you want to count practice squad- they need more seasoning, and I would hope "someone in the know" will talk to both of them about this issue.

Once again, why isn't this a problem for the other 100 plus college football teams in America? SEC schools in particular.

Wondering the same thing...when did it become expected that any junior who is a starter is expected to leave?

Do other schools have seniors that make All-Conference teams? Because at this rate there might not ever be another from LSU.

The quote you posted under said it hurt. What I was disputing was the statement that it didn't happen to other schools also and that we were hurt a lot more than anyone else.

Second point was we didn't lose nine players that were important, only five. We can agree to disagree on whether two or three of the five would have meant the defense was national championship level.

The best LSU RB in the last 10 years had zero chance of being passed by a freshman. Dude is in discussion for best RB in the nation. I see a lot of Hill in LF and that's a damn good thing

thought he wasn't going to use his 6th year, but if he stays that'd be great.

I see what you are saying, but you are totally disregarding the possibility of improvement and the value of experience.

I'll take a crack at it. Most of these guys don't see the benefit of college experience over time spent, even on a practice squad, in the NFL working towards a second contract. If they believe they can make a roster, they are most likely gone. The risk/reward is no longer there unless they can jump to a top 10 pick. There's a valid point to be made about how much the NFL actually values these guys that fall below the 3rd, but that's neither here nor there for most of these guys who believe they'll never fall past the 3rd.

It's a problem across college football with the new wage scale, it's just been more pronounced at LSU as of late.

Also, more and more players have children and leave for the NFL to provide for their children and baby mommas.
