I have supported him for 5 years, even though he has made some very stupid mistakes. I am now off the bandwagon, will go to the game to support the Univ. and the team. I hope he is fired before he ruins the program.

<--- I knew from almost the beginning, and it was 100% due to game decisions/playcalling. He is a great guy and hell of a recruiter, but his decisions on the sideline (or lack of control of others making decisions) blows me away.

If Miles doesn't come out with a press conference defending his players, his recruiting is going to take a hit. Worst timing for a game losing call. :(

Miles's problems are fixable, but will he be given a chance to fix them and more important, will he recognize the problems and man up to himself?

I'm a sportsgambler, I had watched many of his games when he was at OSU.

I was sick to my stomach when Jimmy Ott announced the hire before the Iowa bowl game on his show. Bertman basically letting Gil Brandt make the call for us, and getting Saban's unpleasant Christmas gift quickly out of the way.

Granted, Miles did do excellent with with the talent of 2005-2007, and cashed in once.

But, I do think with a better HC and staff, that Tenn 2005, Aub 2006(and a rematch vs Fla in Atl), Ky and Ark 2007, etc..could've and should've been different stories for LSU.

I said it from the start, and I said it here from the time I joined. Everybody just made fun of me and rattled off some pointless stats... I guess I'm laughing last.

I wrote Bertman the day we hired him. If anyone seen watched those 28 point leads he blew at OSU, you would see why.

Hated the hire. Gave him a chance.

Tennessee 05 was just a big WTF moment for me, and I hated how close we cut games.

06 was annoying with the 2 losses we had, I thought it was too good of a team to lose those games.

07 again, we won the national title after losing 2 against 2 teams on our schedule we should have beaten. I still wasn't a Les Miles fan after he beat tOSU. He sure is good at beating up on big ten and ACC teams in bowl games, nothing more.

08-09 frick this.

The freak 2007 season hid it a while longer for some.

I think that freak season can almost be attributed 100% to the following 3 people

Pelini
Flynn
RP

Obviously we had a lot of talent on that team but these 3 guys were very pivotal in our success. If either QB tanks it we probably don't do well. Pelini was solid enough to get the job done with the overwhelming talent we had.

I had mixed feelings; it seemed like LM at OSU had taken a nowhere team to some levels of respectability in the Big 12. I remember nobody was too excited about the Nick Saban hire - I noted he wasn't king of the Big 10 and LSU/DiNardo version had beaten his Mich State team in the Indy Bowl. So, I thought Miles deserved a chance and was ok with him thru 2007. But about that time, the last remaining Saban recruits were going off the team and the culture of achievement/excellence Saban preached went with them. Suddenly Les was the one who set the standard for the team's achievements. And he had no idea how to teach the kind of football these guys needed to be taught to compete in the higher regions of the SEC. First big clue was in the Malveto promotion and ensuing fiasco. 2008 brought it to a head and we got Chavis, which is better than we had post-Pellini, and has been an improvement in 2009 overMalveto. But this is the year the offense really started to stink. We chalked last year up to freshman QB and Lee's pick 6 addiction. Now I see he was Miles' excuse and in a sense was thrown under the bus to buy him time.

I think Les Miles checked out of LSU the day he was forced by circumstances to decide to turn his back on the Michigan vacancy. He wanted that job.

3 years ago Sept. I was in OKC on business. I went to a sports bar for a beer and burger and the two owners happened to be there. I had my LSU cap on & one of them said boy you guys are gonna be in trouble with Miles. He told me Miles will do good for a couple of years until he has his own players & system (or lack thereof) in place. He will take LSU down. I said I can't see it happening. These guys were in their late 50's and were big Okie St. boosters. Looks like they were right

I honestly tried not to pass judgement on Miles's coaching ability until I actually got to see it for myself. After his first game I was VERY concerned, but it was just the first game, so again I didn't want to jump to conclusions. But, after watching the next game against Tennessee it was very apparent to me that Miles was in WAY over his head. I remember screaming at the TV that they were being too conservative in the second half. Also, the fact that he actually had tried to call a timeout after an interception just left me speechless. Then, he didn't know the rules of challenging a play. He thought he was going to get the challenge back if he won the challenge. I know it really isn't that big of a deal, but it just showed a lack of attention to detail and I was worried that he might approach the game plan that way.

Those were my honest thoughts. I don't go around rantin and ravin about how terrible he is or anything. I mean he is an outstanding recruiter and really cares about the kids on the team and they play hard for him. Another thing that always bothered me was all of the dead ball penalties and procedure penalties we have gotten under Miles. That and the fact that they still seem to be having some trouble getting the plays on the field in time. But, Miles has a lot of positives as a coach as well. I just keep hoping that he will learn from the mistakes he makes and get better at his job just like everyone tries to do.

In fairness, the upsets of Oklahoma rank far higher than the bowl win over USM.
