Not reading this whole thread. It's probably been said. But Chris Duhon by far.

Throw Dwayne Bryant (DLS)in the mix of top five. Top five in all time assists and three point percentage at Georgetown.

Randy Livingston only 2 time National Player of the Year from Louisiana, case closed. All the others pale in comparison.

Well considering that the best would play at the highest level (NBA), I would say Joe Dumars, Avery Johnson, and Robert Pack.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda?
Close only counts in horseshoes and throwing hand grenades.

would ANY of the other guards even sniffed the NBA on only one leg? that in itself should tell you the talent level of Randy Livingston. I doubt if any sustained the level of injury that Livingston had, they would not have made a roster.

But they were not injured and they did make rosters for at least 13 years or more (Robert Pack played 13 seasons, and a lot injured).
Bernard King could have been the GOAT if he had not blown out his knee.
Life happens.

But Bernard and Robert is NOT from Louisiana, the topic is point guards out of Louisiana. None, I repeat None were voted national player of the year besides Randy Livingston.

People are really naming DJ augustin?
it seems like a pretty good answer
wins the state title his soph & jr seasons
college all-american & wins the Cousey Award
1st round Lottery Pick & has been in the NBA for half a dozen seasons

Robert Pack went to Lawless High School in New Orleans.
Bernard was an example of how someone could but didn't because of extenuating circumstances.
Could Livingston been the great PG to ever come out of Louisiana? Sure, but "could" does not equal "was".

So which point guard in the state of louisiana would you take over randy livingston, out of high school.

These kind of posts never prove anything although they are fun. No definitive answer because you are comparing players from different eras and age groups. For instance, the best guard coming out of high school? The best college career? The best NBA career? Did injuries play a factor? What if they spent their last year of high school out of Louisiana (Augustin)?
Are we talking about skill sets, how many games their teams won or lost, whether they could shoot and score as well as handle the rock and pass. What about free throw shooting when the point guard is the most likely guy to be fouled at the end of a close game when it is on the line. Hickey is an example of a guy that I could never rate extremely high unless he greatly improves his free throw shooting.

Start that thread and I will answer.
That's not what this thread is.

Dont need to start that thread, 2 time national player of the year in high school is enough for me. led team to multiple championships in high school, ball handling skills were on the level of jason kidd, free throw shooting was in the high 80s. And beside that, nba execs thought so much of his skill set and talent level that he hung around for a few years on one leg. Now, will we ever see another 2 time national high school basketball player from louisiana in our lifetime?

Sorry.
Livingston might have had the potential to be the best PG ever out of Louisiana. But he wasn't.
His overall body of work does not justify a moniker only homers want to give him.

I would have liked to see what Ryan Francis from Glen Oaks would have accomplished before he was murdered. He led Glen Oaks to a 36-0 record in 2005 and won MVP in class 4a by averaging 22 pts and 5 assist. He was having a promising career at USCw by starting his freshman year before he was killed in BR.
