That may seem like we're way over. We aren't.

I feel like Money will come into his own and be a weekend guy. If not, I could definitely see him being a closer

He isn’t a senior eligibility wise so the waiver wouldn’t impact him. As an experienced, decent to solid weekend starter it seems like he would have a spot if he wants it.

You would think. But the particulars aren't available at this point.
I just know* it goes 2021 - Unlimited, 2022 - 40, 2023 - 37, 2024 - 35.
*If I'm remembering correctly.

He would be in his 5th year, but as a RS senior.

I thought that would make him eligible for a waiver to not count against the scholarships. Again, I don't know the details of all the rules, I just know we are using it with Beck and maybe George too although I think he's always been a walk on so it wouldn't matter since the count is unlimited this year.

I believe Milazzo is back next year and I am pretty sure there are two catchers currently committed.

Yes, he’ll be a 5th year senior but he used a redshirt while injured. He doesn’t need an exemption, it would only be his 4th year of competition.
Beck and George aren’t normal 5th year seniors since they didn’t redshirt and competed in 4 seasons. ETA: Meaning the covid season would have ended their career.

They are using their extra year this year. Labas hasn't reached that point yet. His extra year wouldn't be until after next season.

Tell me more.

I'd love for Labas to come back. I don't think it's out of the question, either.
Floyd has the highest upside of what we have coming back. He just needs to develop a bit.
Hellmers and Edwards project as very solid Saturday and Sunday guys.
The intent is to have Money and/or Coleman as starters but I don't see it yet. I think they can be good pitchers at LSU but they look more like relievers to me right now. I see Fowler and Millas more as starters than those 2. Murray and Rice are 2 guys that should be fully healthy next season, too.
We also have a few JUCO guys that could factor into the weekend rotation.

I may just be confused. I wasn't thinking eligibility, I was thinking using scholarships that don't count towards the 11.7. I'm guessing now that these two things are linked to the rule?

What if they move Crews to catcher
Posted on 5/10/21 at 11:48 am to Lester Earl
At the JUCO he transfers to?
Posted on 5/10/21 at 11:48 am to GA Tiger
Most likely none of them when we get the new coach

Bianco staying and going to be opening day starter at C.
Finally gets to show off that cannon of an arm.

He's resisted that move in the past (pre-LSU). He has experience in catching for Team USA U-18 when he and Drew Romo split time behind the plate.
Pro scouts have wanted to see him behind the plate for a while, but he has not been open to it.

quote:I don’t think there is a scenario where his scholarship wouldn’t count against the total since that mostly dealt with 2020 seniors returning in 2021, but I don’t think it changes my point. Are you saying you don’t think he would have a scholarship unless there is some kind of waiver? I can see where it maybe throws a wrench into things if you didn’t expect to have him back, but I assume either the current staff or a new one would want to keep a vet like that around if he wants to return.

What makes you think Milazzo won’t be back?
