It's also 126 pitches over 9 innings.

Which means there weren't as many stress pitches throughout the game.

If he was at 120 in the 6th inning, that's a lot different.

No. The fact is you don't follow LSU Baseball well enough to know that Maineiri threw a pitcher for 9 innings and 126 pitches because he was desperate for a damn win.

Then some wonder why LSU pitchers are hurt. Throwing 126 pitches and riding a kid like a rented Mule is absolutely ridiculous. If Labas was your son I am sure you would have no problem with this. You CPM lovers are a stupid bunch. That is the damn truth.

No, the fact is you don't know when pitchers were out and when they weren't.

You know who you're talking to right?

Mainieri is the last person who "abuses pitchers" and regularly takes them out too early.

If LSU would have lost you'd be bitching he didn't leave him in.

how often do our starters throw more than 100 pitches in a game? You’re not a true LSU baseball fan if you can’t answer this off the top of your head. You have 3 minutes to reply.

This season it's been definitely less than 10, and possibly less than 5.

ETA: And strictly pitch count ignores so many other things that go into the determination of whether or not a guy should be pulled.

Stress pitches, stress innings, times through the order, body language, a change in mechanics over the course of the game.

Labas is our oldest starter, has a repeatable delivery that appears to be low stress (though that's all individual, it's at least not high effort). He was coming up on a week with a built in extra day of rest.

Rest has been found to be more crucial than limiting pitch counts. Guys throwing once a week can be just fine going over 100 pitches regularly after they've been stretched out.an

My guess is less than 5. I can really only count 3 off the top of my head.

Prior to the Ole Miss game in question, a pitcher has thrown over 100 pitches in a game 4 times (107 being the highest). Of all the things to criticize CPM for, overthrowing pitchers should be the very last thing in the list.

ETA: Total for the season is 8. And since Labas' 126 pitch performance, he hasn't gone over 90. Talk about a rented mule. smh

I think it's 7 over 100. Marceaux threw exactly 100 once.

Lol, Ok we're splitting hairs now. 8 times has a pitcher reached the 100 pitch mark.

Basically none due to overuse.

Splitting hairs to figure out how many fewer times than 10.

On a different note, a guy from Perfect Game tweeted out that there are some big SEC names that have hit the transfer portal in the past 24 hours.

If there’s an mismanagement problem in terms of overuse, it doesn’t happen during the games. Not to say it can’t happen over the course of a week or weeks with how pitchers are handled between appearances like Marceaux in 2019. But the in game stuff doesn’t exist. Labas wasn’t struggling that day. He barely broke a sweat. No innings were very laborious.

Why are Kendall Rogers and Aaron Fitt so ugly?

“Some huge SEC names in the transfer portal over the last 24 hours. Not my place to name names, big believer in letting the players make announcements about their own careers. But regardless...this is only going to pick up in pace with the one time transfer rule. @PGCollegeBall”

And why have they slowly started to look like twins year after year?

Hasn't been updated since 4/29.

They also don't build in any way to track chronologically, which is super dumb.
