I assume you mean before his injury, yes?

Edwards maybe. Floyd if he develops a third pitch and works on the curve.

Weekends will be a struggle to get through on the mound. At least that will be the narrative to start the season. The narrative to start this season was that our pitching, especially the pen, would be a strength and keep us in any game...

Ty Floyd will be a really good starting pitcher for LSU and I think that starts next year. Some of the other freshman could take the next step and take over. The lineup next year will be deep and experienced so the offense will have to carry the team for the most part.

Not sure if we will have that true "ace", but options currently on the roster to start on the weekend:

Edwards
Helmers
Floyd
Coleman
Money

I really haven't paid much attention to this year's recruiting class but I'm sure there will be at least one option there too. Throw in the possibility of a new coach and the new transfer portal rules, and we really have no idea what the pitching rotation will look like next year.

Edwards and Floyd can be really good with half decent coaching. These guys need to develop secondary pitches and if they have them then need to learn how to pitch backwards. Meaning you throw your off speed in unpredictable counts! We never do that currently.

Which hitters are you expecting to improve? Who catches?

If the summer assignments hold true, we're sending out Coleman, Edwards, Money, and Hellmers so far. I assume the plan is for them to get starter experience or at least throw enough innings to develop their other pitches. Who knows, we so rarely send out pitchers I have no idea what they expect to have happen. They should be sent with a specific development plan, but I question whether that actually happens.

I haven't found Floyd on any summer rosters yet, but those other 4 are going, I assume he is too.

What do we feel about rhe chances of Labas coming back? He's only a RS Junior and just doesn't strike me as having the stuff that will get him drafted very high, if at all with a condensed draft this year

Morgan and Crews aren't leaving much room for improvement, but I get a semi just thinking about them at the top of the lineup for the next two seasons.

Drost is the guy I want to see improve the most in the off season. The lineup could be really scary when he figures out SEC pitching.

I haven't read anything about what his intentions are.

My own speculation is that he wouldn't come back.

I don’t know where labas goes.

Does he get drafted in a shortened draft? I don’t think. But could be totally off

Limit is 37 next year correct? Do they extend the senior returner not counting against the scholarship limit? I could see him staying if we have wiggle room there. Otherwise, it may simply be a numbers game.

We are barreling toward a scenario where we have no catchers on the roster for next season. It's kind of amazing actually.

He graduated this spring, if I'm not mistaken. So he may lean toward leaving regardless of where he's drafted. Just my opinion.

Limit is 40 next year.

I don't know this one. I was asking about it on here the other day. Doesn't seem to be decided at this point.

We are at 53/40 as far as players with eligibility vs spots available. That includes every rostered player that could come back next season and every publicly available commit.

That may seem like we're way over. We aren't.

Travinski won't be available till May at the earliest. So you have Milazzo and Wyeth... Does Wyeth return thinking he has to sit behind Milazzo again? He can't wait till the draft to decide. Or at least he shouldn't. I don't see Milazzo getting drafted either. As good as he is defensively, it's his size more than his bat that is seemingly keeping teams away. Not sure how durable he can be.
