The correct answer here is Beckham. If you were a coach, who would you double-team? Would you double Beckham, the player with the most receptions coming into the 2012 season? Or would you double Shepard who was beaten out for the starting position by Beckham.

It's a no-brainer. Time will tell if another receiver will emerge to take some attention away from Beckham.

i have said all along that i believe jarvis landry will be better than odell beckham. it's not a slight on beckham, but since they came in together, they will always bee compared to each other

What in the world tells you that? After all Odell did as a freshman, and Landry landing some hits on special teams, you think Landry is a better wide receiver? Beckham has a shot at being one of the most productive Wrs ever for a Miles coached team, because not many WRs in Miles' offenses are allowed to catch the ball and he did a lot of that as a freshman, which Miles also doesn't like to play. OBJ has already overcome a lot of obstacles, and is definitely one of those guys that I'm excited to see next season.

The X factor, i think, is Shep. If he finally is used correctly in this offense he can be extremely dangerous. If he finally becomes the Percy Harvin type WR we all thought he would be when he came in, he'll be sick. He has that kind of talent.

No, he really doesn't. He's a nice player, but I think it's time to give up on this Percy Harvin silliness. He is who he is. And that's ok.

I agree with Carl here. If Shep had not been pegged with the 5-star label, we'd hardly discuss him.

In fact, the number of recruiting stars that the WR's have is one of two reasons (the other is the emergence of OBJ) that the LSU WR corps is not being labeled as a glaring weakness of the team.

For LSU's passing game to be the aerial assault that fans are clamoring for, the WR's will have to start fulfilling some of that hype.

People forget how damn good Landry was in HS and he probably would have received much more playing time last fall if not for his injury.

Beckham.
Not a deep threat. Need someone like Boone or PP's brother to go deep because Mett can get it deep.

There is not a single player on the roster of any SEC team that was not "damn good" in high school. He may turn out to be a great player, but you'll need a better argument to suggest that he'll be the best on LSU's team.

Let's hope it was injury keeping him out of the starting lineup. LSU needs another great WR.

How about this:
Beckham, Shepard and Landry all put up comparable numbers, like Ware, Ford and Blue/Hilliard did on the ground this year. Maybe 700 yds apiece, give or take?

And we keep the ground game production the same.

I disagree, respectfully of course. The guy has shown flashes that he can be a Percy Harvin tpye. His freshman and sophomore year he was lined up in the back field and made some pretty impressive plays. He has the potential, he needs the opportunity.
