coach that has ever been fired is off the list automatically?

Yes

I mean if you want we can talk outlandish never-gonna-happen possibilities, but I'd rather talk about the real world and realistic candidates.

Name a Power5 coach besides Petrino that got fired at one Power5 program and went on to have success at another Power5 program. It is very very very rare. It doesn't happen, and certainly a program like LSU (and a slew of others top programs) aren't even gonna take the gamble, because there's no reason to do so when their are viable candidates with much bigger upsides and no immediate PR hurdle.

College is not NFL

I agree. I also think that Jimbo wants no part of working for the arse-clowns that botched his hire last year. Buncha frickin amateurs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Aranda is promoted and we never make a serious play for Herman, Fisher, or anyone else of note.

I could totally see this happening. Something completely uneventful and lackluster is the norm now.

Any of y'all that want Art Briles need to seriously consider what you value in life.

You might get some wins and pound the life out of patsies and you'll never schedule teams with a pulse OOC but you'll put your campus and city at risk with the trash he'll bring in.

Your school's reputation will take a decade to recover from hiring him.

Only problem with Briles is our defense will suffer. He's the antithesis of Miles all offense no defense.

Give the job to Aranda. He's a young up-and-coming coach. He can fix the offense with one appointment

The reason Bama has 14 national championships is because they don't think "logically". They pay whatever it takes to have a the nest coach.
Tom Herman, Jimbo are the best possible candidates.
We need one of the two

I heard Gruden wants to coach again.

Seriously, Herman, Sweeney or Patterson seem like the best choices. Maybe Muschamp will figure out how to score some points and become viable too

Dabo? Patterson? Neither of those is going to happen.

Herman is the only possibility of those three.

Muschamp? Okay, GTFO

Just thinking out loud, what are the board members thoughts on Brian Kelly at ND?
