I hear what your saying. And your right about the other teams having a true rival already. I guess I'm speaking from an LSU standpoint and of course our historical rival.
The only problem is that I dont have that emotional charge when I think of the Arkansas game. It certainly can turn into a heated rivalry. And this is all just my opinion. My dad still hates on Tulane, which is not even relevant anymore.

So if Ohio St were to beat Michigan 7 or 8 years straight it's not a rivalry?

Apples and oranges. Ohio St and Michigan are each other's number one rivals and have been for decades and decades. That rival to Bama is Auburn. Their second biggest rival is Tennessee. LSU and Bama don't have the history to be compared to your example.

Yeah I know most LSU fans especially older ones overlook the Hogs. They’ve beat us and given us some games since 2000 though. I don’t hate them like I hate other teams but I sure feel pissed when they spanked us 17-0 in 2014 and in TS 2015. Them winning back to back gave them so much to talk shite on. From my experience, their fans really hate us.

Arkansas has little brother syndrome to LSU like LSU does to Bama. Unfortunately, LSU doesn't really have a true rival. It sucks.

They have backed up their talk on the field in the last 10 years or so. We are neighboring states. Two big fan bases. Screw that dumb trophy. If Arkansas gets good and LSU remains relevant, I’d love to see this become something similar to UF-UGA

I agree and I think Morris can get them there too.

It would be cool to see LSU-Arkansas playing for the west in a top 10 matchup with college gameday on campus in Br or Fayetteville. Sold out. It’s got potential. Both sides need to improve first. Oh yeah.. and Saban needs to go away haha

Based on who gets in the way of our success and who we complain most about here, the top 3 are easy:

Head coach
Starting QB
AD

The top three have got to be from the west because we all fight each other for that spot in Atlanta:

1-Auburn (Most consistent rivalry for almost 3 decades; games with names and shite)
2-Bama (Gotta respect those cheating bastards, but only because they win.)

3-Ole Miss (based on history)
4-Florida (hate them, but we have lost to them and still won it all)

5-6 - Arky and State (hate loosing to them, but beating them isn't that big of a deal)

7 - A&M (I guess they count?)

I see 7 rivals, but no true arch-rival. It'll change based on relative success.

It'd be interesting to see a table (don't have time to start one at work) of the top 3 rivals for all of the SEC teams to see how many would rate us in their top 3.

I think it could still be a rivalry, as long as both teams play each other hard, close games, trading wins every year.

Saints and Falcons were 2 of the worst teams in the NFL for years. And we despise each other.

I say no. A&M has zero wins vs LSU in the last 23 years. Just because LSU played A&M in the first game of the year 30 years ago does not make this a rilvalry. Any first game of the season would be exciting no matter who you play. LSU can play Wisconsin the first game of the season for 6 years in a row and Wisconsin would not be our rival. Would be a big game but not a rivalry.

Someone post a link to this thread on the A&M board. They'll be seething with rage that LSU fans don't consider them a rival.
