Yes we sure do owe them a curb stomping. We were happy with just a win last year until we learned a close win only earns us a rematch.

A blowout wouldn't begin to atone for 1/9 but it might at least count.

The outcome of a single game is far less important to me than the outcome of the entire season. If we beat Alabama by one point and go on to win the NC, then the season is an unqualified success. If we beat Bama by 30, but lose 2/3 other games, the season is a disappointment

Agreed, at this particular time, a win over Alabama is necessary for a lot of reasons; some practical and others "for the good of the program." Practically we need to beat Bama to be in the hunt for the SEC West and recruiting purposes. However, we need a win so we can be one up on them and I must admit I do have revenge in my heart.

I didn't cherry pick anything. I gave a handful of examples that showed a wide range of rankings

Yes. AFTER the regular season. Remember, that was what they were judged on in order to be granted the Mulligan.

quote:

Post season rankings do matter bc it's not until the end of bowl season that we can truly see how the teams Bama or LSU played against, stacked up in the grand scheme of things.

No, they don't. Not when ESPN is pushing for post season matchups. How does ESPN know this ahead of time? They don't.

quote:

Now if you want to argue that Bama's SOS went up after they played LSU the 2nd time, then I'll buy that.

You'll have to because that's what happened.

quote:

So I checked Bama's SOS after week 12 and they were 24th. That same week LSU SOS was 16. This was Colley's Matrix rankings - I didn't have time nor could I figure how to look at individual weeks for the others. There is probably a way, and if you can find it and it disputes the proof I've provided, then by all means, show me.

This is your way of admitting you are wrong, but not really. Good job.

Don't you find it laughable as well that the ranking you cherry picked had LSU's 2011 regular season SOS as 16? Anyway...

quote:

That being said, SOS rankings for both teams, both pre, and post-season, were a far cry from the SOS of Oregon's 50+ SOS the year before - and Oregons SOS of 50+ was post season, which factors in playing an undefeated Auburn team.

Which means, deep breath, Bama's "resume," or SOS, was way better than the previous years contender for the BCSNCG.

LOL. Yeah, you now know you were wrong, and are asking me to "take a deep breath", as if I need calming down. This topic (that you were dead wrong about) has been discussed here many times.

As for Oregon, their resume in 2010 WAS stronger than Bama's 2011 resume. Why? Well, Oregon did THREE things Bama didn't do:

1) Won their Division
2) Won their conference
3) Didn't lose their biggest regular season game AT HOME

quote:

As far as OKS goes, their sos was better than Bama's but they lost a game to an unranked team 2 weeks after Bama's overtime loss to the #1 team, and there simply weren't enough games left in the season to leapfrog Bama.

Yeah, we knew all this already. OSU beat more ranked teams, won their division, and won their conference. Their regular season SOS was better than Bama's despite their loss. Again, discussed here many times. Sorry you were wrong.

As has been pretty clear: IF OSU were Longhorn Network or OU, they would have been in NOLA on 1/9/12.

quote:

So, again, remove the tinfoil hat. There is no conspiracy.

Again, sorry you were wrong.

a great, exciting game would be like a 31-20 LSU win with turnovers and a few big plays. I don't want a blow out either direction.

Since this game every year, for quite some time, has been decided by probably six pts or less....with a rare exception. I think we are getting ahead of ourselves.

We better just hope for a win regardless of the pt spread.

I'd take a win any way we can get it. It's not like this game is the final LSU BAMA game to end all and win all. We play them at least once every season. This is just the 2012 version. You just don't want to lose two in a row in this series.

I would love to see mett throw for 3 tds in the first half and then lsu run up 300 yard rushing in the second half to finish with a 35-6 win.
Realistically , 10-6 win would be fine. Hell, 3-0 win would work.

A win will suffice but would love it if we put a good arse whuppin on them. I've had gumps gloat that TM7 was gone, a gump tell me yesterday that we were just lucky the first game last year. That's gump thinking for ya and i live with it on a daily basis. I want to be able to really be an ahole in their face as they cant seem to help being to me. They love to gloat. It's the gump upbringing i guess.

Agree w/you 100% - Final score should be at least LSU 21 - Gumps 0
