i'd love to blow them out, but a win at the last second is just as heartwrenching for their fans. I want them to feel like they're going to win the whole game then pull the rug out from under them at the last second again. I may have a stroke, but it would be worth it.

The outcome of a single game is far less important to me than the outcome of the entire season. If we beat Alabama by one point and go on to win the NC, then the season is an unqualified success. If we beat Bama by 30, but lose 2/3 other games, the season is a disappointment.

I think they proved that they were certainly good enough to be in the title game, but that does not mean that they "deserved" it. Don't forget that they got to sit out an extra week while LSU played another top 25 team for the conference title.

this....we already have people on this board expecting a 14-0/+10 season. the second their bullshite expectations aren't met they commence with the fire the coach bleating and the pathetic player bashing. we will be good to very good this year and if our kids step up and we get some breaks it could "crystalize" into something special. let it begin.

We owe Bama a beat down, if that can happen in a manner that will satisfy those of us who agree with that basic premise is yet to be seen.
However, if it can happen, this is the year for it to happen.
Start with either 2011 game and apply the variables since then:
QB Play - Add 2012 Mett both
Overall D - very close in 2011. Bama has a lot of holes to fill in 2012.
Chemistry/Prep - Okay, the HB deal hurts but it's not a Shady's level issue and it's not taking the assumed starting QB off the team. I'm not getting into a JJ/JL fight so just save it.
Running game - it's so lopsided LSU it's not worth much discussion.
LBs - we better, they not even close.
DBs - we're at least as good as 2011 and they are not.
We're can score the points this year in bunches, "punching some teams silly" in the 1st/2nd Q is a possibility... and I pray it happens to God foresaken Alabama in Death Valley on Nov 3 2012 @ 7p on CBS.... Amen.
