Play Tulane every year, home and home. Say goodbye to the Bayou Classic, bars and restaurants won't close. It's a win win for NOLA.

In the State of Alabama, LSU would be the worst academic school, by a significant margin, to UA, Auburn and UAB. Fun fact.

They’re not. Alabama vs. Auburn, Georgia vs. GeorgiaTech, Florida vs. Florida State, Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt, Ole Miss vs. MS State, Texas vs. Texas A&M, Arkansas vs. Missouri, Kentucky vs. South Carolina. It’s Oklahoma vs LSU as only two left but it should be LSU vs. Tulane and Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State.

Speak for ourselves. I loved that Black Friday Arkansas game. No school or work, fridge full of Thanksgiving leftovers and enjoying my favorite team without a care in the world. Playing on Saturday like everybody else didn't hit as hard, and still doesn't.

If you wanted to watch college football while the women were out shopping, then LSU was always the best national brand option. We had the attention of the whole country that day.

It was a win for exposure for sure.

it's great for NOLA, but not a benefit to LSU in any way to play a road game against Tulane.

in this instance, I don't think they're trying to force anything.
after all other rivalry games are filled, you're left with 4 teams.

Arkansas, LSU, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

LSU and Oklahoma are 2 National Brand teams that move the needle.
so if you can put that game on rivalry week, you jump at that chance.
That simple.

I haven't seen anything even remotely trying to promote it as any sort of rivalry. Just happens to be played the last week of the year.

Arkansas and Missouri seem to have embraced that rivalry. So might as well just keep it.

I’d be down to play Tulane again but there’s zero chance LSU plays a game in Yulman every other year. It would have to be at the Dome, in which case it’s not a true home/home.

The other problem is that Tulane is a G5 school, so you still have to play a P5 OOC to satisfy the SEC requirement. So you’d lose home games ($$$) overall.

I think it’d be entertaining but there’s not much incentive for LSU to reignite that rivalry right now.

I really wish Tulane was our last game each year. With bench clearing brawls, drunken fan fights in the stadium. Just a good ol rivalry game. Ar-Kansas isn’t a rivalry, OU probably isn’t. Hell of the “SEC” I’m starting to hate a&m more than any of them. But Tulane would be so much fun again.

Home and home with Tulane isn’t in the budget.

this will never happen until Tulane accepts their place in the state (which will of course never happen).

Tulane simply doesn't move the needle, no matter how good of a year they are having. They are averaging 23,000 in attendance this year (Yulman holds 30,000).

So LSU would be the reason the Dome would get sold out (or at least close to it), but Tulane would demand the money for that sellout.

Why would LSU ever agree to being the reason tickets are sold, but let Tulane get the money for it?
LSU has sold over 100,000 tickets for every single home game this year (tickets sold, not actual butts in seats).
Why give up one of those 100,000 ticket nights to basically donate 50,000+ sold tickets to Tulane?

I don't understand the obsession of wanting a a rivalry this weekend.

Honestly, this is one of the best weeks for football, because LSU typically is not playing in a big game and I can sit back and watch all the other great games.

If you're not so interested in the LSU game because it isn't a rivalry, here are some fantastic games this week with huge implications.

Memphis/Tulane
Clemson/SC
Texas/Texas A&M
Michigan/OSU
Iron Bowl
Arizona/ASU
Houston/BYU
Cal/SMU
ND/USC

With so much up in the air, who cares about who LSU is playing this week? I'm going to watch and it'll be my main screen, but there will be a lot more willingness to miss plays if another one of those games gets good.

Honestly, I'd rather play Tulane the last weekend of the season.

I think we should give this OU thing a chance. After 4-5 games it will fee like Auburn or Florida where both teams have talent and either side can win. OU is slightly down right now vs. the last 20 years but there will be years when they’ll be 10-1 and we’ll be 9-2 desperate to make the playoffs with a win. Could become a legit rivalry.
