We are gonna have to overpay to get any guaranteed championship type coach. We just spent a ton of money axing BK. We are about to reset the market again for Head coaching salaries. They can’t afford to go cheap here or what would have been the point of all this.

All these coaches are smiling right now because now they know after this hire and when there contract is coming up to get an extension they’re about to get a nice raise because of what we are about to offer our next coach.

If they have to wait on Lane they will do it. I think Lane will buck coming here though and stay in MS with everything he has going on in his life. We would have to give him around anywhere from 12-15 million a year to get him here. Which would be worth it, any number would be worth it because he’s the closest gurantee you have in this coaching search. Also will have to pay his buyout which is around 30 something million I believe.

If Woody is making the hire, no chance. He would have hired him last time.

KIFFIN is way too ambitious to stay at ole miss. Playoff run or not it’s ole miss. He wants to be considered in conversations with Saban and Kirby and ole miss is 2nd tier compared to Bama, Georgia, and LSU. The timing couldn’t be better. If he’s offered, he’s 100% coming because this opportunity will never come again.

That's my thinking too. He is not going to retire at mississippi..

This is his next and last chance to coach a major program like Lsu. He has been waiting for this chance ever since he got let go from southern california. His sunset is not gonna happen in little oxford, mississippi

Ole Miss' likely playoff run will hinder LSU from hiring him before the December signing period. LSU can't wait that long. Therefore, LK is a long shot.

I think the timing is off and I don’t think it’s a fit for LSU or Lane Kiffin. Lane has to coach in the playoffs and LSU is not going to wait for him. It’s just one of those things where the timing isn’t right.

I think you're right on target, BUT, many will wonder "what if" for years after this union never happens.

Me. He’s pretty connected to ole miss right now with family and schools and football positions on hs teams etc. I hope he comes here but I don’t look for him to. He’s gonna flirt though just to get a massive raise but I think he stays.

The timing isn't being discussed enough. We have MAJOR roster slots to fill. Recruits need to know who the coach is going to be before Ole Miss's season ends.

You might have to sacrifice one recruiting class to get the right coach

I hope he won't. But Omar is pushing hard for him hard though and he apparently is making the decision so we'll find out if he's interested or not.

All the coaches that you want are still coaching. And will be coaching for the playoffs in the bowl games.

There is no coach out there that is not coaching right now. That you could get next week.
That is worth coming here.

I think it’s a slim chance we get him. I don’t think he goes anywhere honestly.

I certainly am not in Lane's headspace, so I don't know what he will do. I can say I spend quite a bit of time at Ole Miss. They love him there.

He says he doesn't coach for money; however, his agent is trying to get him a $15M/yr contract.

My overall sense is he is using the LSU and UF opening as leverage for his new contract value at OM. I could be totally off, but that is my sense.

UF has had a list of unsuccessful coaches. I would take pause on that job. Your's is a high demand job. As Kirby said this week. This isn't your office... you are borrowing it. That's pressure!

I agree that timing is off and is a long shot but both Kiffin and Kirby took HC jobs when they were in the middle of a championship run when they took FAU and Georgia, respectively.

I think it’s a lot different for a coordinator than a head coach. If you’re an OC or DC taking a head coach job, that’s a promotion. There are gonna be a lot less hard feelings than with a head coach leaving to go to a conference rival.

I think Ole Miss is good, but their schedule has shaped up very nicely for them.

They could make a run, but I don't think they will be in the championship when it is all said and done.

This I agree with. They have the weakest schedule / easiest path to the CFP in the SEC.
