people said the same thing when we found ourselves in the losers bracket in Omaha. It's postseason baseball. Players step up, crazy stuff happens. What hasn't bene mentioned is we've only used 4 pitchers through 2 games, and only 2 of them are burned for the rest of the SECT. We still have Ackenhausen, Little, Hellmers, Ulloa, Dutton, Moffett, Anderson, Coleman, Loer, and Hurd who have yet to pitch and can give you innings to get through a few more games. Ackenhausen and Anderson both are capable of giving you 4-5 innings. Hurd, if he gets his shite together like he did last year, can too.
Not a single team in the SEC has 5 starting pitchers lined up. But teams still manage to figure out a way to piece together wins to win the tournament every year.

We do not have much chance of winning this thing to be honest. We have used our 2 best pitchers, and they are done for the rest of the tournament. Winning 3-4 games without Holman and Jump seems unreasonable.
I mean, a lot of people said the same thing about Skenes and Floyd last year.
It’s an uphill battle for sure and I don’t really like our chances against Smith if Arkansas wins today. But if USCe holds out, we have a path. Beat USCe and you get a day off before the semis on Saturday, against a team who is either on their 4th game in 4 days or their 5th game in 5 days.

Hurd was warming up in that last inning.....FWIW.

And the higher seeded teams have yet to throw their aces. We used ours today and yesterday. Arky still has Hagen Smith and their Saturday guy.

Who do we give the start to Tomorrow?
Get Skenes glove and give it to Hurd like last season!
That has to be the difference!

Try and steal 5-6 innings with Hurd. See if he can gain some confidence going into do or die play

Hurd or Anderson. They both need some confidence.

I think I would do that too. But I wouldn't tell Hurd till like 2 hours before the game. He seems like a guy that may not sleep well the night before he knows he's starting.

I think you could easily say Holman is done, and Jump can throw around 40-50 pitches on Sunday if needed.
Then Holman is starting game 1 of the regionals on Friday with plenty of rest, and Jump is on Saturday, possibly Sunday with what should be plenty of rest from his 100 pitch start with that "bullpen" session pitched on 4 full days rest.

Im pulling for SC, they can hit but arent too deep at pitching. I feel like depending on who wins this sc vs ark game will be a big factor in which pitcher we use.
If we play SC, we have a good shot so pull all the best pitchers out. If we play arky, dont waste best option yet
